WHIT JOHNSON (ABC NEWS) (Off-camera) In Colorado, a paramedic has been sentenced to five years in prison for the death of Elijah McClain. Peter Cichuniec was convicted of criminally negligent homicide. He and his co-defendant, Jeremy Cooper were accused of administering an excessive amount of ketamine to sedate 23-year-old Elijah McClain after an encounter with police in August of 2019. Cooper was found not guilty of assault in the second-degree unlawful administration of drugs. They both had pleaded not guilty to their charges. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
