The Maryland State Department of Education has updated the income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced-price school meals. A single parent with an annual income of $19,578 or a family of three with an annual income of $26,572 now qualifies for free lunch. Additionally, a single parent with an annual income of $27,861 or a family of three with an annual income of $37,814 qualifies for reduced lunch. Families must submit an application to officially qualify for the assistance. The Maryland Partnership for Proven Programs, a funding partnership between the State of Maryland and Arnold Ventures, has awarded $20 million in grant awards for the Saga Education tutoring program and the ASSISTments online educational tool. This partnership aims to scale and expand programs that promote economic mobility and cradle-to-career outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
