Rotary Rocket Co. plans to use human pilots to control its proposed 'Roton' reusable launch vehicle to orbit, deploy a satellite, and maneuver the vehicle through a water-cooled reentry to an autorotation landing on retractable rotors. Roton, which is planned to carry two human pilots, will be maneuvered by the pilots to replenish low Earth orbit (LEO) communications satellite constellations. Rotary Rocket plans to be able to deploy two operational vehicles to LEO using an innovative rotary aerospike engine for a vertical launch.
