The article discusses grant money awarded to philosophers by the John Templeton Foundation, with particular focus given to their generous nature and their use in scientific, interdisciplinary projects investigating topics such as free will, evil, and cosmology. The affiliation of the Templeton Foundation with evangelical Christianity is examined, and the criticism that philosophers investigating concepts related to Christian theology are more likely to receive grants is commented on. The foundation's goal of improving the status of philosophy among academic disciplines is also touched on.
