The growing perception among some of Britain's black and Asian communities that there is less justice for them than for white Britons is reflected in two nights of rioting in Bradford, England, and the acquittals in the Joy Gardner case in Jun. 1995, but there are signs that the problem is being recognised by the police. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Condon has led the way in trying to eliminate the racist culture of some parts of the police force. A series of compensation awards to young black people for false imprisonment or malicious prosecution has also shown police that racism has a price.
