Andrii "Juice" Pilshchykov, known as the "Ghost of Kyiv," played a significant role in modernizing the Ukrainian air force and shifting it from Soviet to Western doctrine. Ukraine's air force was in disarray due to lack of maintenance and spare parts, leading to the selling off of planes and reliance on outdated equipment. Juice recognized the need for modern fighter jets and advocated for the acquisition of F-16s, which he believed would provide Ukraine with the capabilities to protect its cities and civilians. Despite his efforts, Juice tragically died in a training accident, and Ukraine is still waiting for the delivery of F-16s. [Extracted from the article]
