Influenza -- Statistics - Abstract
Data on influenza were collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the period 1988-89 through a physicians' network, state and territorial epidemiologists, 121 cities and the World Health Organization. The data indicated that 10 states reported regional or widespread influenza activity by Jan 14, 1989, and 32 to 36 states per week reported influenza activity between Jan 29, 1989, and Feb 25, 1989. All reports of widespread activity had ceased by the week ending Mar 25, 1989., Abstract Problem/Condition: CDC monitors the emergence and spread of new influenza virus variants and the impact of influenza on morbidity and mortality annually from October through May.
