New research published by the Harvard Business School suggests that looking the part is an important factor in landing a job. The study analyzed 63,000 job openings and found that certain accessories or physical features gave candidates an edge in hiring, even after controlling for race, age, and gender. For example, men wearing glasses and having a computer visible in their photo were perceived as a better fit for software programming assignments. Similarly, women with reading glasses and an "artistic" look were seen as a better fit for graphic design jobs. However, it's important to note that appearance should not outweigh job or communication skills. [Extracted from the article]
