The article focuses on Garifuna community singer Jimmy Suazo. The late Garifuna singer Jimmy Suazo was on his way to international celebrity. Suazo even sang boleros and ranchero music and was often on tour in the U.S. to places like Texas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Boston and Washington, D.C. his name was becoming known throughout Latin America. But Suazo was always on call for tours back in his native Honduras. Suazo had performed at a March 21 New York-area fundraiser, helping to raise funds for the Garifuna community. On the morning of Sunday, April 18, Suazo took off with band members for a drive to the scene of his next concert.
