STUDENT financial aid, ACADEMIC achievement, FEDERAL aid to higher education, HIGHER education & state, LONGITUDINAL method
Abstract
In this article the author discusses college student financial aid in the U.S., arguing that the lack of scholarly research regarding the correlation between financial aid and academic achievement prevents institutions and scholars from developing an adequate plan for reform. The author notes various randomized studies regarding the impact of student financial aid, comments on a federal review of the Pell Grant program, and shares his views that research will improve higher education policy making.
