This study was to investigate the effect of dietary L-theanine (THE) supplementation (0, 600 mg/kg) on growth performance, carcass traits, immune organ indexes, meat quality, and muscle antioxidant status of transported broilers. A total of 180 one-day-old male Ross 308 broilers were randomly allotted to 2 treatment groups including a THE-free group with 12 replicates of 10 birds each and a THE group with 6 replicates of 10 birds each. On the morning of day 42, after a 9-h fast, the birds of THE-free group were divided into 2 equal groups, and then all birds in the 3 groups were placed into 18 crates and were transported according to the following protocols: 0-h transport of birds in the THE-free group (control group), 3-h transport of birds in the THE-free group (T group), and 3-h transport of birds in the THE group (T + THE group). Results showed that dietary THE supplementation improved feed conversion ratio and birds’ final body weight (P< 0.05), while transport and dietary THE supplementation did not affect carcass traits of broilers (P> 0.05). Transport increased bird live weight loss, drip loss, L*24 h, muscle malondialdehyde (MDA), protein carbonyl (PC) and lactate contents, while it decreased thymus, spleen, and bursa of Fabriciusindexes, pH24h, a*, and muscle total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) activities and glycogen content (P< 0.05). Nevertheless, compared with birds in the T group, birds in the T + THE group exhibited increased thymus, spleen, and bursa of Fabriciusindexes, pH24h, a*24 h, and muscle T-AOC, CAT, and GSH-PX activities and glycogen content, and decreased drip loss, L*24 h, and muscle MDA, PC, and lactate contents (P< 0.05). This study provided the first evidence that dietary THE supplementation prevented transport-stress-impaired immune organ indexes and meat quality of broilers, and the reason for maintenance of meat quality by supplementation of THE may be partly ascribed to the changed muscle glycolysis metabolism and antioxidant status.

In order to realize general management of PCBN tool multimedia information, this paper set up multimedia cutting database of PCBN tool on the platform of Visual Basic, mainly applied database interface technology of Visual Basic and database management system of Microsoft SQL Server 2000. Aimed at the characteristic of large video data, handling relative path was brought forward as a method. Practice proved that handling relative path could realize all functions the database needed, and increase system running speed, general management of PCBN tool information under different machining conditions was realized.

Porous silicon with pore size in the range of a few nanometers can be used as multifunctional material in different MEMS applications. Via an electrochemical etching method, porous silicon is fabricated on the silicon substrate and removed as a sacrificial layer by using KOH solution to form a micro structure. This technique is typical in micro fabrication. Three-dimensional size is the basic geometric feature to describe microstructure surface characteristics. It is important to investigate measurement methods for it. UBM Microfocus Measurement System based on defocusing error detection is adopted to measure eroded depth of silicon cup. The measured data in the experiments are analyzed. The influence of etching time, current density and silicon type on etching depth can be acquired. Effective reference data can be provided for studying micro fabrication methods.

New pyrochlore compounds Sm1.6M0.4Ti1.6Nb0.4O7 (M = Cu, Ni) are synthesized by a wet chemical method. The crystal structure of the compounds belongs to a cubic system with a cubic face-centered cell. The temperature dependence of the inverse susceptibility of Sm1.6M0.4Ti1.6Nb0.4O7 (M = Cu, Ni) in the paramagnetic region shows the ferrimagnetic behavior of the compounds. Fitting to the experimental plot of the inverse susceptibility of the compound versus temperature was performed. The temperature at 1/χ =0 (TFN) is (150 ± 5) K for Sm1.6Cu0.4Ti1.6Nb0.4O7 and (164 ± 5) K for Sm1.6Ni0.4Ti1.6Nb0.4O7. The compounds are weak ferrimagnets, not spin glasses.

A new pyrochlore compound CaNdFe1/2Nb3/2O7was synthesized by a wet chemical method. The Rietveld method is used to determine the crystal structure of the compound. The crystal structure of CaNdFe1/2Nb3/2O7belongs to cubic system with a cubic face-centered cell and a=1.04138 nm. Mossbauer spectrum of the 57Fe nucleus in the compound shows the absence of the internal magnetic field in the compound and the low spin state of the trivalent iron ion. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility indicates the paramagnetic property of CaNdFe1/2Nb3/2O7. There may be translation from the FeIIIion in a low spin state to the Fe3+ion in a high spin state in the compound when the temperature is higher.

Abstract: A complex system dynamic (SD) model focusing on water resources, termed as TianjinSD, is developed for the integrated and scientific management of the water resources of Tianjin, which contains information feedback that governs interactions in the system and is capable of synthesizing component-level knowledge into system behavior simulation at an integrated level, thus presenting reasonable predictive results for policy-making on water resources allocation and management. As for the Tianjin city, interactions among 96 components for 12 years are explored and four planning alternatives are chosen, one of which is based on the conventional mode assuming that the existing pattern of human activities will be prevailed, while the others are alternative planning designs based on the interaction of local authorities and planning researchers. Optimal mode is therefore obtained according to different scenarios when compared the simulation results for evaluation of different decisions and dynamic consequences. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
