The article presents a study that assessed the concept of zero which is used in setting up policy goals for sustainability. It asserts that goals for sustainable change should be set based on both the problem and solution, not on the concept of zero. It presents an overview of the myth about zero and various spatial scale and time frame necessary on the discussion of sustainability. It concludes that the concept of zero mislead the goal for sustainability on both theoretical and policy aspect.
