Abstract

•This multicentre study collected 238 isolates of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales(CRE) over 3 months.•Carbapenemase genes and drug susceptibilities in secondary and tertiary hospitals were compared.•blaKPC-2and blaNDM-5were the most prevalent genes in carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae(CRKP) and carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli(CREC).•ST11 and ST2 were the most common sequence types (STs) in CRKP and CREC.•Discovery of mcr-1in CRKP in a secondary hospital in Henan.
