The intersection of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge (KPR) and the Central Basin Rift (CBR) of the West Philippine Basin (WPB) is a relic of a trench-trench-rift (TTR) type triple-junction, which preserves some pivotal information on the cessation of the seafloor spreading of the WPB, the emplacement and disintegration of the proto-Izu-Bonin-Mariana (IBM) Arc, and the transition from initial rifting to steady-state spreading of the Parece Vela Basin (PVB). However, the structural characteristics of this triple-junction have not been thoroughly understood. In this paper, using the newly acquired multi-beam bathymetric, gravity, and magnetic data obtained by the Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology, China Geological Survey, the authors depict the topographic, gravity, and magnetic characteristics of the triple-junction and adjacent region. Calculations including the upward continuations and total horizontal derivatives of gravity anomaly are also performed to highlight the major structural features and discontinuities. Based on these works, the morphological and structural features and their formation mechanisms are analyzed. The results show that the last episode amagmatic extension along the CBR led to the formation of a deep rift valley, which extends eastward and incised the KPR. The morphological and structural fabrics of the KPR near and to the south of the triple-junction are consistent with those of the western PVB, manifesting as a series of NNE-SSW- and N-S-trending ridges and troughs, which were produced by the extensional faults associated with the initial rifting of the PVB. The superposition of the above two reasons induced the prominent discontinuity of the KPR in deep and shallow crustal structures between 15°N–15°30′N and 13°30′N–14°N. Combined with previous authors’ results, we propose that the stress produced by the early spreading of the PVB transmitted westward and promoted the final stage amagmatic extension of the CBR. The eastward propagation of the CBR destroyed the KPR, of which the magmatism had decayed or ceased at that time. The destruction mechanism of the KPR associated with the rifting of the PVB varies along strike the KPR. Adjacent to the triple-junction, the KPR was destroyed mainly due to the oblique intersection of the PVB rifting center. Whereas south of the triple-junction, the KPR was destroyed by the E-W-directional extensional faulting on its whole width.

In order to study the LED light source illumination and the correlated color temperature effect on the human eye visual performance and physiological changes, through the comparative experiments of visual task performances under the different color temperature (3000K low color temperature, 4000K intermediate color temperature) and the different illumination (1145lux high intensity, 500lux middle intensity, 288lux low illumination), study the relationship between the biological effect and visual performance from two aspects of the visual perception performance and the physical efficiency such as blood pressure and pulse. Research indicates that color temperature 3000K or 4000K, intensity of illumination in about 500lux LED light source is suitable to visual task.

In this paper, we introduce a novel technique for mining fuzzy association rules in quantitative databases. Unlike other data mining techniques who can only discover association rules in discrete values, the algorithm reveals the relationships among different quantitative values by traversing through the partition grids and produces the corresponding Fuzzy Association Rules. Fuzzy Association Rules employs linguistic terms to represent the revealed regularities and exceptions in quantitative databases. After the fuzzy rule base is built, we utilize the definition of Support Degree in data mining to reduce the rule number and save the useful rules. Throughout this paper, we will use a set of real data from a wine database to demonstrate the ideas and test the models.

Based on lots of gas emission from gob in mining faces, and the actual situation that gas accumulates in the top corner of the working face in Chang Ping coal mine, it is introduced in the paper that the successful experience about the technology of gas drainage to gob with long bore-holes along roof strike, the conclusion would be had obtained obvious security and economic benefits.

The deep excavation of the foundation pit adjacent to the metro tunnel will change the stress state of the neighboring soil. And the deformation of tunnel will be induced which will cause impair to daily operation and the safety of metro tunnel. According to the practice of deep excavation neighboring the metro tunnel in Guangzhou, the main influence factors of deformation and stress of tunnel will be analyzed based on exaction conditions and field data. The conclusions will be benefit to similar projects.

With the development of urban construction, urban transit network has been gradually improved, but subway tunnel under its normal operation is inevitably affected by underground engineering activities such as foundation pit engineering. Based on the deep excavation near the effects of tunnel, the research content of 3d finite element analysis, from the qualitative research based on different situations of foundation excavation, is near to optimize the design and construction to provide the beneficial reference.

Combined with one foundation pit engineering in Guangzhou, the method was adopted in this paper, by which the in-situ test and finite element analysis were integrated. According to situation of study and demand of engineering, the study in composite soil nailing walls system was focused on working mechanism. The law of soil-nailing support technology for deep excavation was pointed out and summarized to provide reference to similar projects.

Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) has been widely used to analyze non-stationary and nonlinear signal by decomposing data into a series of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and a trend function through sifting processes. For lack of a firm mathematical foundation, the implementation of EMD is still empirical and ad hoc. In this paper, we prove mathematically that EMD, as practiced now, only gives an approximation to the true envelope. As a result, there is a potential conflict between the strict definition of IMF and its empirical implementation through natural cubic spline. It is found that the amplitude of IMF is closely connected with the interpolation function defining the upper and lower envelopes: adopting the cubic spline function, the upper (lower) envelope of the resulting IMF is proved to be a unitary cubic spline line as long as the extrema are sparsely distributed compared with the sampling data. Furthermore, when natural spline boundary condition is adopted, the unitary cubic spline line degenerates into a straight line. Unless the amplitude of the IMF is a strictly monotonic function, the slope of the straight line will be zero. It explains why the amplitude of IMF tends to be a constant with the number of sifting increasing ad infinitum. Therefore, to get physically meaningful IMFs the sifting times for each IMF should be kept low as in the practice of EMD. Strictly speaking, the resolution of these difficulties should be either to change the EMD implementation method and eschew the spline, or to define the stoppage criterion more objectively and leniently. Short of the full resolution of the conflict, we should realize that the EMD as implemented now yields an approximation with respect to cubic spline basis. We further concluded that a fixed low number of iterations would be the best option at this time, for it delivers the best approximation.

Static Josephson effects in circularly symmetric annular junctions are discussed. When the annular width W of a junction is smaller than ?J, analytic solutions can be obtained. For annular width W of a junction larger than ?J, the self-field effects must be considered; the solutions can be obtained numerically. For these two cases, called "small junction" and "large junction," respectively, the magnetic field dependence of the critical current Im of a circularly symmetric annular junction is obtained. Further, for a width W larger than ?J, the current density distribution is also given for several magnetic fields. In addition, for a given external magnetic field, when the feeding current I is smaller than the critical current Im of the circular symmetric annular junction, there are multisolutions under such physical conditions. Finally, the stability of these solutions is also discussed.

The isolator of scramjet engine has to separate the combustor from the inlet so that the scramjet can keep working stably. The steady-state flow field structure, the shock train shape and the starting position of the symmetrical model of isolator under different backpressure ratio are obtained by numerical simulation of commercial software fluent. Using the user-defined function to simulate the pressure fluctuation caused by the irregular heat release in the combustion chamber, the motion of the shock train in the isolation section is obtained. It is found that the start position of the shock train is larger than that of the steady state simulation, which provides a reference for the design of the combustion chamber.

A palaeomagnetic study of Middle to late Cretaceous redbeds from Linzhou basin (Lhasa block), north of the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone, gives a stable palaeomagnetic direction of magnetization with a positive fold-test: six sites, 57 samples, D=333°, I=38°, k=78, α95=8°, pole 64°N, 348°E. We discuss the problem of a possible remagnetization but consider that this direction of magnetization gives a good approximation for the palaeolatitude of the Lhasa block during Middle to late Cretaceous time. Results from more recent Tibetan formations are also presented: late Cretaceous to Palaeocene sediments and volcanics give a lower palaeolatitude of 10°N and but more recent andesites have emplaced about 30°N, close to the present-day latitude. An interpretation is proposed whereby the Lhasa block, which was a part of Asia in the early Cretaceous, has undergone first a southward motion accompanied by an anticlockwise rotation and then, after the Palaeocene, a northward motion under the constraint of the colliding India.
