Abstract

•Total suspended solid load in the coastal waters of the northeastern Arabian Sea is moderately high throughout the year.•Total suspended solids is the primary limiting factor that declined the phytoplankton abundance, diversity, and biomass in the coastal waters of the northeastern Arabian Sea.•Shore protection measures will ultimately conserve the coastal environment and enhance biological productivity.
