In this paper a simulating system to aid design programs for detecting and locating errors in digital computer will be discussed. To achieve sufficient speed of simulating the hierarchical approach is proposed. The computer can be simulated on three levels: 1) single-function models (operational level), 2) complete functional models (functional units level), 3) structural models (elements level). The parts of computer under fault injection must be simulated on the fine structural level. To achieve a high speed of the analysis the remaining parts of the computer can be simulated at the operational or at the functional units levels. The complete model will be compiled automatically. Three methods of fault analysis are also discussed in this paper.
