The Raman line of a new hydrogen molecule at approximately 3820cm−1has been observed for the first time in silicon after Si+ion implantation with proper doses, followed by hydrogen atom treatment. The assignment was confirmed by isotope shifts to 2770cm−1for D2molecule and to 3353cm−1for HD molecule. Both the ion-dose dependence and hydrogenation-temperature dependence of the Raman intensity of the H2molecules correlate with those of the intensity of peaks of Si–H stretching observed at 1957±1.8cm−1and at approximately 2185 and 2210cm−1. We propose a model where the hydrogen molecule corresponding to the 3820cm−1vibrational line is trapped in or adjacent to small H-terminated multivacancies.

While the QRS scoring system has been established as a convenient tool for estimating infarct size in nonreperfused patients during the chronic stage of myocardial infarction, its applicability to reperfused patients in the acute stage has not been established. To investigate whether infarct size could be estimated by the QRS scoring system soon after reperfusion, we evaluated QRS scores obtained serially 6 hours to 1 month after reperfusion, total creatine kinase release, and left ventricular ejection fraction in 126 patients with acute myocardial infarction who underwent successful reperfusion therapy. A significant correlation was observed between the QRS score obtained after 6 hours and that obtained after 1 month (r = .89). The QRS scores obtained after 6 hours and 1 month were significantly correlated with total creatine kinase release (r = -.65 and r = -.75, respectively) and left ventricular ejection fraction (r = .62 and r = .76, respectively). Thus, the QRS scoring system can be used as a simple and economical method for estimation of infarct size soon after reperfusion.

Pt/Rh‐modified CeO2/Al2O3and CeO2/La2O3/Al2O3catalysts prepared by impregnation with an aqueous solution of H4PtCl6and RhCl3are found to have larger oxygen storage capacities (OSC) than the corresponding unmodified catalysts.

In order to evaluate the usefulness of postural loading in estimating the degree of latent glomerular lesion, creatinine clearance(C.cr.) was measured in supine and upright position in 3 groups of renal patients whose standard C.cr. was within normal limits.Group A consisted of 19 children with minimal or no glomerular lesion; and Group B included 33 children with histologically proven glomerulonephritis. The latter group was further divided into B-1(mild) and B-2(moderate), according to histologic findings.As shown in the table below, C.cr. decreased significantly by postural loading in Group B, particularly in Group B-2, but not in Group A.It was concluded that the measurement of C.cr. in standing position might be useful in estimating the degree and activity of latent glomerular lesion in childhood glomerulonephritis.
