A palladium/chiral N,N′-disulfonyl bisimidazoline (Bim)-catalyzed asymmetric addition of arylboronic acids to isoquinoline-1,3,4-trione-derived ketimines is reported, leading to the generation of a series of functionalized isoquinoline-1,3(2H,4H)-diones bearing one quaternary carbon-amino functionality in good to excellent yields with ≥95% eein most cases. The reaction has remarkable compatibility with both substrate scopes, providing a highly enantioselective entry to chiral heterocyclic α-tertiary amines.

Evaluation of abandonment and recovery operation of steel lazy-wave riser in deepwater is presented in this paper. The calculation procedure includes two single continuous SLWR and cable segments, which are coupled together to form the overall mathematical model. Then the equilibrium equations of SLWR and cable are established based on minimum total potential energy principle. The coupled equations are discretized by the finite difference method and solved by Newton-Raphson technique in an iterative manner. The present method is validated by well-established commercial code OrcaFlex. Recovery methods by considering different ratios of vessel’s moving velocity to cable’s recovery velocity are evaluated to optimize the abandonment and recovery operation. In order to keep the tension more stable during the recovery process, the rate ratio before leaving the seabed is increased, and the rate ratio after leaving the seabed is reduced.

Background: The introduction of metabolomics makes it possible to study the characteristic changes of peripheral metabolism in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Recent studies have found that the levels of valine are related to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD. Aims: This study aimed to further clarify the characteristics of valine levels in MCI and AD. Methods: A total of 786 participants from the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative-1 (ADNI-1) cohort were selected to evaluate the relationships between serum valine and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers, brain structure (magnetic resonance imaging, MRI), cerebral glucose metabolism (18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography, FDG-PET), and cognitive declines, through different cognitive subgroups. Results: Serum valine was decreased in patients with AD compared with cognitive normal (CN) and stable MCI (sMCI), and in progressive MCI (pMCI) compared with CN. Serum valine was negatively correlated with CSF total tau (t-tau) and phosphorylated tau (p-tau) in pMCI. Serum valine significantly predicted conversion from MCI to AD. In addition, serum valine was related to the rate of change of cerebral glucose metabolism during the follow-up period in pMCI. Conclusions: Serum valine may be a peripheral biomarker of pMCI and AD, and its level predicts the progression of MCI to AD. Our study may help to reveal the metabolic changes during AD disease trajectory and its relationship to clinical phenotype.

A concise copper catalysis strategy for the addition–cyclization of cyclic oxime esters across 1,6-enynes with high stereoselectivity to generate 1-indanones bearing an all-carbon quaternary center is reported. In this process, single-electron reduction of cyclic oxime esters enables deconstructive carbon–carbon cleavage to provide a key cyanopropyl radical poised for the addition–cyclization. This reaction is redox-neutral, exhibits good functional group compatibility, and features 100% atomic utilization. This process driven by copper catalyst makes readily available cyclic oxime esters as bifunctional reagents to demonstrate convergent synthesis.

The combination of AgTFA and Sc(OTf)3enables the bimetallic synergistic catalysis of β-alkynyl ketones and para-quinone methides (p-QMs), allowing direct synthesis of 17 examples of benzo[c]xanthenes with generally good yields through a benzannulation/1,6-addition/cyclization sequence. Exchanging p-QMs for quinone imine ketal resulted in 10 examples of tetracyclic naphtho[1,2-b]benzofurans via a similar benzannulation/1,4-addition/cyclization cascade. During these reaction processes, AgTFA and Sc(OTf)3could be perfectly compatible, together with the realization of C(sp3)-H functionalization adjacent to carbonyl group on the β-alkynyl ketone unit.

Novel carbon–carbon triple bond breaking and rearranging reactions of benzene-linked allene–ynes have been established. The reactions can be selectively controlled toward the formation of two families of skeletally diverse benzo[g]indoles and 1-naphthols under mild conditions. Silver salt was found to efficiently promote indole annulation to give multifunctional benzo[g]indoles with the installation of two sulfonyl groups into the indole ring via N–S and N–F bond cleavage of NFSI, whereas NBS and NCS-mediated benzannulations occurred with the formation of dihalogenated 1-naphthols.

An NFSI/KF‐mediated scission/recombination of C−C double bonds for [4+1] annulation is reported, leading to the efficient synthesis of a wide range of fully substituted oxazoles in good to excellent yields under mild redox‐neutral conditions. This methodology might open a new entry for the preparation of structurally applicable heterocyclic systems in a highly functional‐group‐compatible manner. The combination of Pd(TFA)2and an N,N′-disulfonyl bisimidazoline ligand shows high catalytic activity and excellent asymmetric induction in the addition of arylboronic acids to cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimines including benzo[d]isothiazole-1,1-dioxides, benzo[e][1,2,3]oxathiazine-2,2-dioxides, and 1,2,5-thiadiazole-1,1-dioxides, by which three types of chiral quaternary carbon-containing sultams with substantial substitution diversity were synthesized with high yields and excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee). The current catalysis demonstrated a remarkable tolerance to oxygen and thus provided an operationally simple approach for constructing enantioenriched cyclic quaternary stereocenters.

Two metal‐free radical annulation‐hydrofunctionalization cascades of 1,6‐enynes have been established, enabling the complete stereoselectivity to access a wide range of functionalized (E)‐1‐indanones with moderate to good yields. The reaction pathways involve in situ‐generated P‐ or S‐centered radical‐triggered α,β‐conjugated addition/5‐exo‐digcyclization/H‐abstraction sequence, allowing direct and versatile protocols for stereoselective construction of 1‐indanone scaffolds with high functional group tolerance and wide substrate scope. Two metal‐freeradical annulation‐hydrofunctionalization cascades of 1,6‐enynes have been established, enabling the complete stereoselectivity to access a wide range of functionalized (E)‐1‐indanones with moderate to good yields.

A new single Pd-catalyzed decarboxylative allylation–nucleophilic cyclization relay is reported by using α-alkynyl arylols and vinylethylene carbonates (or vinyl carbamates), and a wide range of 3-allyl benzofurans with generally good yields were stereoselectively synthesized under mild conditions, among which the complete stereoselectivity of some cases was also observed. Notably, the present catalysts can tolerate air conditions without any ligand, additive, or base, opening new avenues to build up oxa-heterocycle frameworks through catalytic difunctionalization of internal alkynes.

A new electrochemical three-component annulation–iodosulfonylation of 1,5-enyne-containing para-quinone methides (p-QMs) has been established by using available arylsulfonyl hydrazides and potassium iodide under environmentally benign conditions. The electrosynthesis offers sustainable and efficient access to construct spirocyclohexadienone-containing (E)-indenes without any additional catalyst or oxidant through a sulfonyl-radical-triggered 1,6-addition and an I+-mediated ipso-cyclization cascade. Notably, potassium iodide plays the triple role of an electrolyte, a redox catalyst, as well as an iodination reagent.

A new Lewis acid catalyzed alkyne–carbonyl metathesis/oxa-Michael addition relay was first reported, leading to the atom-economic synthesis of unreported functionalized indolone-containing naphtho[2,1-b]furan-1-ones with a quaternary center in good to excellent yields and high diastereoselectivity through scission/recombination of C–O double bonds under the mild conditions. A Yb(OTf)3-catalyzed reaction between α-alkynyl naphthalen-2-ols and isatins worked efficiently and offered a convergent and regioselective protocol to construct cyclic ketones via alkyne polyfunctionalization.

A double-base copromoted 1,4-oxo-migration/cyclization cascade of β-alkynyl ketones was reported, enabling to form a range of functionalized 1-indanones with moderate to good yields and high diastereoselectivity in the presence of t-BuOK as a Brønsted base and N,N′-dimethylethanediamine (DMEDA) as a Lewis base. Some of these 1-indanones were successfully transformed into 2-haloethyl benzoates with one all-carbon quaternary stereocenter by 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) or 1,2-dibromoethane (DBE) as both a reactant and a reaction media. This method also features high atomic utilization (100%), high diastereoselectivity, and mild reaction conditions.

A novel photoredox catalysis for multiple functionalization of two different types of unactivated alkenes in a single operation was reported through a conceptually new mode of annulation–alkynyl migration. A wide array of cyclopentane carboxylates were synthesized in a highly selective and functional-group-compatible manner via C-centered radical induced cascade 5-exo-trig/5-exo-digbicyclization and C–C bond cleavage process. This methodology might open a new entry for designing annulation–functional group migration to create structurally applicable cyclic ring systems.

Two types of new oxidant-free radical multicomponent reactions of β-alkynyl ketones, aryldiazonium salts, and DABCO·(SO2)2(DABSO) were established, leading to the tunable generation of two class of sulfonated 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans with moderate to good yields and complete stereoselectivity under the mild conditions. The radical-induced scission/recombination of the C(sp3)–C(sp3) bond enabled direct 1,8-halosulfonylation of β-alkynyl ketones, giving 1,3-dimethylene-substituted (1Z,3Z)-1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans with substituent diversity by p-nitrobenzyl bromide (PNBB) or p-nitrobenzyl chloride (PNBC) as the halo source. Fine-tuning substituents to strong electron-withdrawing ones, such as nitro, cyano, and trifluoromethyl, linked to aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates allowed a different annulation/1,5-azosulfonylation process to access sulfonated (Z)-1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans with one quaternary carbon-amino functionality.

A new double annulation cascade involving a [2 + 2] cycloaddition–retroelectrocyclization (CA–RE) process was first reported, leading to the generation of unprecedented dibenzoannulated naphtho[2,1-b]oxecines with good to excellent yields and high stereoselectivity through catalytic scission/recombination of C–C double bonds under the mild conditions. An Y(OTf)3-catalyzed three-component reaction of α-alkynyl naphthalen-2-ols with β,γ-unsaturated α-ketoesters enabled direct ring expansion of the naphthalene ring and carbon–carbon double bond cleavage/rearrangement of α-ketoesters to give macrocyclic architectures.

The objectives of this study were to lay the methodological groundwork for field studies of microRNA analysis in exosomes from small sample volumes of human milk, and assess exosome and microRNA content in infant formulas. When human milk was stored at 4°C for 4 weeks, the count of exosome-sized vesicles decreased progressively to 49% ± 13% of that in fresh milk. Exosomes were purified from 1 mL of fresh human milk and their microRNA content was assessed by microRNA-sequencing analysis and compared with that in infant formulas. We identified 221 microRNAs in exosomes from 3 samples of fresh human milk; 84 microRNAs were present in all 3 samples. MicroRNAs were not detectable in infant formulas and their exosome-sized vesicles, which appeared to be casein micelles. We conclude that large-scale studies of microRNAs in human milk exosomes are feasible, and exosomes and microRNAs are not detectable in formulas.

A new palladium(II)-catalyzed cyclization–radical addition cascade enables the direct construction of 1,3-dimethylene-substituted isobenzofuran derivatives containing a vinyl aryl sulfone unit in good yields by treating with β-alkynyl ketones, aryl diazonium salts, and DABCO·(SO2)2. The oxidant-free multicomponent reaction features good substrate scope and functional group tolerance, which proceeds through a sequence of Heck coupling, oxo-cyclization, and SO2insertion.

A new I2-mediated iodobenzannulation of yne-allenones has been established, enabling breaking/rearranging of C≡C bonds to selectively access 4-iodonaphthalen-1-ols with generally good yields. The resulting 4-iodonaphthalen-1-ols could serve as a new and reliable coupling reagent, which further reacted with H2O under the oxygen conditions to generate unexpected 1,2-carbonyls with good yields through Pd-catalyzed deiodinated carbonylation, whereas employment of benzene-1,2-diamine as the nucleophile rendered 3-(quinoxalin-2-yl)naphthalen-1-ols through Pd-catalyzed [4 + 2] heterocyclization. On the basis of the controlled experiments, the mechanism for forming 1,2-carbonyls was proposed, including an oxidative addition, 1,3-palladium migration, reductive elimination, and oxidative dehydrogenation sequence.

A new class of chiral N-sulfonyl bisimidazoline (Bim) ligands have been designed, prepared, and applied in Pd(II)-catalyzed asymmetric addition of arylboronic acids to isatin-derived N-Boc ketimines. The combination of Pd(OCOCF3)2and N-tosyl Bim ligand shows high catalytic activity and excellent asymmetric induction, enabling asymmetric addition to offer α-tertiary amines with generally good to high yields and excellent enantioselectivity (up to 96% yield, 96% ee). This asymmetric Pd(II) catalysis can tolerate air conditions, providing a practical and operationally simple protocol toward the construction of an enantioenriched α-tertiary stereocenter.

Substrate-controlled generation of 3-sulfonylated 1-indenones and 3-arylated (Z)-indenes through radical cyclization cascades of o-alkynylbenzonitriles with sulfonyl hydrazides was established by combining copper(II) with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as a catalytic oxidative system. With the installation of the aryl group (R1) into the alkynyl unit, sulfonyl radicals triggered addition–cyclization cascades to access 3-sulfonylated 1-indenones with good yields by using a Cu/TBHP system, whereas a series of new functionalized 3-arylated (Z)-indenes were obtained in good yields when o-alkynylbenzonitriles bearing the alkyl group in the alkynyl unit were subjected with arylsulfonyl hydrazides with an electron-rich nature under the above conditions.

A new Pd(II)-catalyzed carbonyl-directing activation of alkenes has been established, enabling radical-induced selective fluorosulfonylation and aminosulfonylation of carbonyl-tethered 1,7-enynes with sulfinic acids and N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI) under mild and redox neutral conditions to access densely functionalized (E)-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-ones with generally good yields and high stereoselectivity. The selectivity of these bifunctionalizations relies on the electronic nature of substituents on both aryl rings of 1,7-enynes.

An unusual catalytic double [2 + 2] cycloaddition relay reaction of yne–allenones with unactivated alkenes and alkynes has been achieved, which enabled C–C triple-bond cleavage to access more than 60 examples of functionalized phenanthren-9-ols with generally good yields. This reaction provides a regioselective and practical method for the construction of carbocyclic ring systems with a high degree of functional group compatibility. Aside from surveying the scope of this transformation, mechanistic details of this process are provided by conducting systematic theoretical calculations.

A new organocatalytic double annulation cascade involving scission/recombination of N-O bonds of nitrones is reported for the first time, and used to produce a range of hitherto unprecedented tricyclic bridged-fused benzo[d]azepines bearing three stereogenic centers with moderate to good yields and complete diastereoselectivity. A quinine-catalyzed reaction of yne‑allenone esters with nitrones worked well and provided a convergent and regioselective pathway to access these three-dimensional scaffolds from the planar conjugated system. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been applied to understand the key process for forming diradical intermediates.

A new palladium-catalyzed annulative allylic alkylation (AAA) reaction of 2-(indol-2-yl)phenols with dual allylic electrophiles such as isobutylene dicarbonate and butene dicarbonate is described, leading to the regioselective synthesis of tetracyclic medium-sized cyclic ethers possessing a bridged aryl-indole scaffold, namely, benzo[2,3]oxocino[4,5-b]indoles and benzo[2,3]oxepino[4,5-b]indoles, in good to excellent yields. This protocol demonstrates a broad substrate scope, good compatibility with substituents and high regioselectivity, providing a catalytic and flexible method for creating bridged aryl-indole skeletons.

AbstractThe gridded sea level anomaly (SLA) data-set provided by AVISO is used to track the propagation of intraseasonal Kelvin waves in the Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) region. The large root mean square of intraseasonal SLA along the Sumatra and Java coast is closely related to the propagation of intraseasonal Kelvin waves that derive from the equatorial Indian Ocean. These Kelvin waves are further found to propagate following different pathways at the Lombok Strait. Pathway A propagates eastward throughout the Sumba Strait and Savu Sea to reach the Ombai Strait. Pathway B penetrates into Lombok and propagates northward to reach the Makassar Strait. Pathway C propagates southeastward along the southwest coast of the Sumba Island. The equatorial Kelvin waves take around 15 days to travel from the equatorial Indian Ocean to Lombok Strait, and around 5 days to penetrate into the Makassar and Ombai straits. The Kelvin wave-induced SLA persists in the ITF region for an additional 5 days and then diminishes subsequently. The phase speeds of these intraseasonal Kelvin waves along Pathways A, B, and C are 1.91–2.86, 1.69, and 1.96 m s−1, respectively—in agreement with the first two baroclinic modes of Kelvin waves.

Volume concentration determination of atmospheric krypton and xenon is very important for krypton-85 and radioactive xenon isotopes monitoring. An injection set-up integrated adjustable quantity sample injection and quantitative dilution function was designed. The effects of electron impact (EI) source parameters on the sensitivity of MS detector were studied. Optimal values were as follows: ionization energy of 70 eV, emission current of 40 mA, cathode voltage of 27 mV, ion focus voltage of 85 mV and lens compensation voltage of 20 V. A GC-MS method for the determination of krypton and xenon in atmosphere without sample pretreatment was developed. Minimal detected concentrations for krypton and xenon were 3.3 × 10−8(V/V) and 2.6 × 10−9(V/V) respectively. Moreover, krypton and xenon concentrations in the ground level air were measured with the results of 1.1 × 10−6(V/V) and 9.3 × 10−8(V/V). The related combined standard uncertainties for krypton and xenon results were 2.38% and 3.15%, respectively.

A phytochemical study on the rhizomes of Cimicifuga foetidaresulted in the isolation of two new cycloartane triterpenoids (1and 2), eight new cycloartane glycosides (3–10), and six known cycloartane glycoside analogues (11–16). The structures of 1–10were determined by application of spectroscopic methods, with the absolute configuration of 1determined by X-ray crystallography. Compounds 1–6, as three pairs of epimers at C-10 and C-24, belong to a seven-membered-ring variant of 9,10-seco-9,19-cycloartane triterpenoids, and glycosides 3–10were found to be 3-O-β-d-xylopyranosides. The cytotoxicity of the isolates was evaluated against five selected human tumor cell lines, and the known compounds 15and 16showed cytotoxicity against the hepatocellular carcinoma SMMC-7721 cell line with IC50values of 5.5 and 6.3 μM, respectively.

The authors report a deferential scanning calorimetric study of MgO–Al2O3–SiO2 glasses which possess low melting temperature due to introduction of some quantity of B2O3, Li2O and CaF2. It is shown that the content of Li2O has a strong impact on the overlapping extent of the rates of nucleation and crystal growth. High-quartz tends to precipitate at low temperature (~1173 K) for the studied glasses, irrespective of Li2O content. With increasing annealing temperature, spodumene and cordierite form as main crystalline phase for the samples with high and low Li2O content, respectively, and then cristobalite crystals occur for both glass compositions. Microhardness firstly increases and then decreases, depending on crystalline phase sequence, and a maximum microhardness value is obtained to be 10.5 GPa.

Hollow and hierarchical NiO nanosheets nanotubes were successfully prepared through a one-step solvothermal route followed by a thermal annealing treatment. The microstructure and chemical composition of Ni-precursor@PNT core-shell nanostructures and calcined NiO nanosheets nanotubes are investigated by SEM, TEM, TGA and XRD. The unique NiO nanosheets nanotubes show admirable electrochemical performance as an electrode material for supercapacitors owing to the hierarchically tubular structures and hollow interior.

In this work, we prepared the sandwich-like carbon@SnO2@carbon hollow spheres by templating against polystyrene spheres. The hollow spheres are characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrochemical performance as the anodes of lithium-ions batteries are studied by the cyclic voltammogram (CV) and galvanostatic discharge-charge voltage tests. Because of the interesting structure, the as prepared carbon@SnO2@carbon hollow spheres deliver a reversible capacity of 492 mA h g-1 after 50 cycles at a high current density of 400 mA g-1.

Pogostemon cablin(Blanco) Benth. (Lamiaceae), which is named ‘Guang-Huo-Xiang’ in Chinese, has various therapeutic functions to remove dampness, relieve summer-heat and exterior syndrome, stop vomiting, and stimulate appetite. Patchouli oil is the essential oil of Pogostemonis herba. This study is aimed to investigate the antinociceptive and anti-allergy activities of patchouli oil. The antinociceptive activity of patchouli oil (20, 40, and 80 mg/kg) was evaluated using the acetic acid-induced writhing test (NIH mice) and the hot-plate test (NIH mice), and those for anti-allergy activity were tested using Schultz–Dale reaction, the passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) test, and delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) test. All doses of patchouli oil could significantly (p<0.05) extend writhing latent period and moderately decrease writhing frequency. In the hot-plate test, patchouli oil treatment significantly (p<0.01) increased the latency period at all three doses at 30, 60, and 90-minute time intervals compared with the control group. Patchouli oil could remarkably (p<0.01) inhibit the contraction induced by the Schultz–Dale reaction. Moreover, patchouli oil at all doses significantly (p<0.01) inhibited the PCA reaction induced by Sprague–Dawley rat anti-ovalbumin serum and the DTH reaction induced by the 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene when comparing with those of the control group. The findings suggested that patchouli oil may provide additional evidence for its potential uses as antinociceptive and anti-allergy agents.

A palladium-catalyzed asymmetric annulative allylic alkylation reaction of 2-[(1H-indol-2-yl)methyl]malonates with (E)-but-2-ene-1,4-diyl dicarbonates is described, leading to the regio- and enantioselective synthesis of dihydropyrido[1,2-a]indoles with a chiral cyclic allyl stereocenter adjacent to the ring-junction nitrogen atom in moderate to good yields. The salient features of this protocol include mild conditions, a broad substrate scope, and good compatibility with substituents as well as high regio- and stereoselectivities, providing a catalytic asymmetric entry for fabricating chiral pyridoindole scaffolds.

Air conditioner unit which is a significant part of central air-conditioning is a multiinput-multioutput system.Because the input quantity of it is related with each other and influenced by multifarious interference, an ideal control effect is unavailable by general control method. It is also the main unit of energy consumption, so the refrigeration effect and the energy consumption of the central air-conditioning are determined by the control effect and efficiency of it. A neural network model is made according to the unit of air handing and controlled by the strategy of fuzzy-PID. It is proved by experiment that favorable control effect is available in case that the fuzzy-PID control strategy meets requirements when either there is interference or the target quantity changes.

The greenhouse is an important part of facilities agriculture,also is one of the focus of the development of modern agriculture. Including temperature and humidity are the two most important environmental factors in greenhouse, nonlinear, strong coupling relationship between them, increasing the difficulty of greenhouse control. According to this complicated problem, this paper establishes a model of greenhouse temperature and humidity, studies a kind of model based fuzzy PID intelligent greenhouse control algorithm,and used MATLAB/simulink simulation platform, set up a simulation system. Results show that the control algorithm which solve the problem of strong coupling of temperature and humidity, and stable control of the greenhouse temperature and humidity. With a small amount of overshoot and fast convergence rate, etc. Satisfy the greenhouse nonlinear, big lag, multiple input, multiple output complex system control requirements.

In this paper, we study the shape of the leaves. More specifically, we show that leaf shapes are affected by genes and external environment in different species; and affected by leaf vein and leaf distribution In the same species. Based on shape features, color features and vein features, a Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) Model is established by using Polar Fourier Transform. Finally, our experimental test shows that the total classification accuracy is 85.7%.

For the soft rock roadwaysupporting problems, using the conventional methods cannot effectively controlthe deformation and failure. This paper took B103W01 transport gateway projectin Shajihai coal mine as example and analyzed its deformation failure reasonand deformation mechanism and determined the specific measures of transformingcompound mechanism of deformation mechanics into a single type. In the end, weput forward coupling support technology of constant resistance and largedeformation bolt + hollow grouting anchor + corner grouting steel pipe, whichhad been applied to engineering practice. The monitoring results showed thatthe supporting effect was good. So it can be used for reference for the similarconditions of roadway supporting.

Cenozoic rifted lacustrine basins in east China display three main basin types: (1) basins with steeply dipping boundary fault, whose hanging walls tilt along pivot points; (2) basins with listric boundary faults, whose hanging walls bend along flexural bending points; and (3) basins formed by earlier extensional rifting with later strike-slip movement superimposed. The sequence development is intimately linked to the tectonic movements in the area, where second-order sequences are regionally correlatable from basin to basin and relate to the large-scale tectonic movements in the region. Third-order sequences are related to local tectonic activity and are correlatable within basins, between subbasins, and sometimes, between neighboring basins. Detailed sequence-stratigraphic analysis and mapping of depositional systems demonstrate that sand-body distribution patterns are related to sequence-stratigraphic frameworks. For the three kinds of basins, the positions of pivot point zones, flexural bend zones, and strike-slip faults plus the syndepositional faults all control the distribution of depositional systems systems tract, and sand bodies. These controlling factors can be attributed to different structural and stratigraphic features that change the accommodation. Structural elements include boundary faults, syndepositional faults, and abrupt changes in dip. Stratigraphic controls include preexisting surfaces with local channelization, paleobathymetric lows, and onlap onto clinoform slopes. The lowstand sand bodies deposited at the downdip end of these controlling factors constitute the current and future exploration targets for conventional reservoirs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
