According to recent survey by ITMF, Indian cottons are amongst the most contaminated cottons in the world due to the lack of availability of systematic instruments to judge the level of contamination. Contaminations present in the fabric not only deteriorate the quality and appearance of fabric, but also affect on the profits of the organization. Here, we have tried to highlight the sources and remedial measures for contamination, practiced in the cotton cultivation to yarn manufacturing industry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a study on mechanical splicing with cotton yarns. In the study an attempt was made to find out effect of splicing parameters on the quality of splice. The splice quality is normally assessed on the basis of strength of splicing yarn, number of incidences the yarn breakage rate at splice. In the present study ring spun cotton yarns with of 10, 32, 40 and 60 Ne were studied.

The article is aimed at finding the effect splicing parameters has on splice quality. It offers information on the materials and methods used, the experimental plan, and parent yarn specifications applied in the study. It discusses the results of the study including splice retained strength, abrasion resistance and splice breakage ratio. It concludes that splice retained strength has no significant effect on splice breakage ratio, and are therefore unlikely to break due to abrasion.

The article discusses the important role of yarn tension measurement in winding process during textile production.Two ways of controlling yarn tension are either by measuring with hand-held tension meters or using an active device that measures a feedback a yarn tension in real times using sensors. Yarn tension measuring systems can be categorized into mechanical, electronic and electromechanical based on their operating principle. The different types of yarn tension generators are the additive, multiplicative, additive cum multiplicative, and self-compensating. In modern winding machines such as Schlafhorst Autoconer 338 and Savio's ORION, yarn tension can be automatically measured and controlled using sensors so as to ensure good quality and efficiency.

The diagnosis of abdominal actinomycosis is difficult because of its relative infrequency and imitation of other diseases. We present four cases in which these difficulties in diagnosis were experienced and show the utility of CT in suggesting this disease. Aspiration, biopsy, and proper culture technique, in conjunction with typical CT findings of transfascial and multiple organ involvement, led to the proper diagnosis in all cases.

Occasionally hip joint disease may extend into surrounding structures, including the retroperitoneum, via the iliopsoas bursa. The enlargement of this bursa may present as an inguinal or pelvic mass that may affect other surrounding structures and can result in a multitude of clinical presentations. The two cases presented herein of iliopsoas bursa distention secondary to hip disease demonstrate the excellent specificity of CT and magnetic resonance in differentiating this clinical entity from other causes of groin masses.

The article focuses on splicing technology as solution to reduce knots and yarn breakage in yarns during weaving. It states that splicing, which refers to the technique wherein two ends of yarns are linked together, is seen as a solution for reducing machine expenses and cost. It also discusses various type of splicing which include mechanical splicing, pneumatic splicing, and aqua/wet splicing.
