Electrochemical detection of arsenic in adulterated water using single polypyrrole nanowire (PpyNW) decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is reported. The PpyNWs were prepared with a template directed technique and aligned in between the gold pair of electrodes (1–2 μm gap) using an electrophoretic alignment method. The AgNPs were decorated on to the single PpyNW using cyclic voltammetry. The arsenic detection was done using anodic stripping voltammetry. The aligned PpyNW and decorated AgNPs were confirmed by scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersive spectroscopy technique. The improved sensitivity may be due to the discrete energy levels of nanowire co-related to aspect ratio and the nanoparticles. The limit of detection for PpyNW/AgNPs electrode is found to be 1.5 ppb, and the sensitivity of the sensor is recorded to 2.81 μA/ppb. The precision and sensitivity of the device enable to protect anti-arsenic domestic applications.

A series of novel 3- methyl-7-substituted-4H,4-benzothiazine-2-carbohydrazide (3a-e) and corresponding thiosemicarbazides (4-a-q); 2-[3-methyl-7-substituted- 4H -1, 4-benzothiazine-2-yl]-N-(aryl) hydrazine carbothiamide have been synthesized. The thiosemicarbazide when cyclized with iodine via intramolecular cyclisation gave benzothiazonyl oxadiazoles (5-a-q); 5-(3-methyl -7-substitued-4H- 1,4-benzothiazin-2-yl)- N —aryl- 1,3,4- oxadiazol -2-amine and the compounds were tested for antibacterial and antifungal activities against different microorganisms.
