This article discusses the series of weaving preparation process resolutions developed by Rostoni Macchine in response to market demands, as of January 2005. Preparation to weaving is usually intended as warp chain construction processes. Once the warp is loaded on the loom, the appropriate weft will be added accordingly for the desired weave. Rostoni, a specialist in preparation technology for knitting and weaving, makes certain distinctions between the major processes; direct, sectional, fractional warping, sizing and assembly. The first step in weaving preparation is a good creel. Rostoni produces both axial creels for textile yarns, as well as tangential creels for technical and special yarns. Rostoni's warping creels are simple but fundamental machines. All Rostoni tensioners are automatically regulated by a loading cell signal. This regulation system, called Tensomat, maintains the unwinding tension constant during work condition variables. This article explores world developments in the textile printing sector in the decade 1992 to 2001. In the Textile Market Survey of 1997, North American printers already expected a strong increase of commission-based printing, up to 98 percent of revenues by the year 2000. The average run length per colorway has decreased for rotary printing. The average run length worldwide is 2235 meters. The worldwide decline in run lengths per design seems to be a continuing trend. This decline is mainly caused by the shift from a supply market towards a demand market. Increasing foreign competition and customers' demands for higher quality level of end-product are the major market developments expected to have impact on the textile business of printers and engravers. Responding to this trend, printers seek means of differentiating themselves by improving the quality level of products and discovering product innovations in order to satisfy customer demands. North American textile printers put more emphasis on seeking new activities in existing markets. Also printers strongly focus on cost reduction measures to improve the profitability of their business. U.S. investments show a strong emphasis on designing.

Highlights the problems currently faced by the textile machinery sector and provides an insight into potential initiatives relating to China's market, discussed at the June 2004 annual general meeting of the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (Acimit) in Milan, Italy. The Italian textile machinery market is still facing a difficult period. The sector recorded in 2003 a turnover of 3.2 billion Euros, 75% of which achieved on foreign markets. One of the few satisfactory foreign outlets in 2003 being the Turkish market where Italian textile machinery sales reached a value of 412 million Euros. Making Turkey even more important than China in terms of Italian export market. The Chinese market in fact recorded significant drop in Italian sales. While the Euro zones countries and the U.S. are still lagging behind as the resumption of investment in the textile field is late in coming. Acimit feels that it is therefore necessary that the entire national system backs Italian manufacturers in their efforts to penetrate and capture the newly emerging markets, protecting them against the risks of unfair competition. All these new challenges mean that expansion in the scale of manufacturing activities is inevitable, and it is therefore necessary to remove the causes that hinder the business rationalization process.

This article reports on the 14th International Textile Machinery Association Fair held in Birmingham, England in October 2003. The presence of real decision-makers at the trade show has made it possible to cast veil over the excessively high costs, the drop in visitor numbers and the general disorganization that characterised the event. This event was attended by a total of just under 125,000 visitors, the daily average being 17,800, although the first two days actually recorded the highest concentration. Great Britain apart, the countries most strongly represented among the visitors were Turkey, Germany, Italy, France and Pakistan. The preparation-to-weaving and weaving sectors were dominated by the traditional protagonists, partly as a result of the scale of their presence. As anticipated prior to the event, there were no innovations of real note. There was a generalised renewal of Jacquard machines, even for label production. Excluded from the general trend of gradual renewal was digital printing: exhibitors from this particular sector were present in force and the quality of the results recorded bears witness to the renewal. It is important to note the presence of manufacturers from Turkey and the Far East, present with machines whose lack of aesthetic appeal may or may not reflect low technical and productivity levels.
