The article presents a study which assessed temperament traits of white-lipped (Tayassu pecari) and collared peccaries (Pecari tajacu) during handling in a farmed environment. Topics discussed include the introduction of using an emotional indicator and a new selection of criterion for peccary farms, the use of principal components analysis for the qualitative behavioral assessment data to define a temperament index, and the potential of using temperament as a selection criterion in breeding.

The specification of a safety critical real-time application often includes end-to-end temporal requirements, imposed by the designer, that are usually checked at implementation level. In this paper we focus on three requirements: latency, i.e. the amount of time required before an input is taken into account by the corresponding output, freshness, i.e., the age of an output with respect to its related input, and reactivity, i.e., the minimal duration of an input to be taken into account by the corresponding output. Using a synchronous modeling language extended with real-time clocks, we show that these requirements can be computed automatically without considering implementation choices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In a randomized study involving 18 athletes, supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids (2.25 g) plus policosanol (10 mg) for a period of 21 days was found to reduce reaction time and increase vigor sensation associated with a reduction of negative mood states (assessed via The Profile of Mood States test). The authors conclude, "Supplementation with O3 + P may be effective in improving mood state and reactivity.
