Abstract

psychosocial stress holds negative consequences for physical health. Experiencing stressful life events may lead to mortality, by inducing behavioural changes and morbidities. In our current study, we will evaluate whether in the general population (the number of) stressful life events are associated with all-cause and cause-specific mortality, and whether this relationship is mediated by behavioural changes and morbidities.

Abstract

The DETECT-2 risk score is a simple screening tool for prediction of incident type 2 diabetes (based on fasting and/or Oral Glucose Tolerance Test glucose levels). Recently, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels have been added to diabetes diagnostic criteria. Our study evaluates whether predictors from the DETECT-2 score could be used to predict HbA1c levels after 6 years.

Abstract

Low socio-economic status (SES) is associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Most studies however only include 1 indicator of SES: education, income or occupation. The aim of our study is to evaluate the strength of the association between education, income, occupation or the combination of all 3 SES indicators and diabetes risk in the general population.
