An end-stage renal disease patient underwent renal transplantation 18 years back and was on triple immunosuppression for acute rejection. She presented with left-sided abdominal lump and underwent ultrasound and noncontrast CT scan, which revealed an exophytic mass lesion in atrophic left kidney (16.2 × 13.1 × 14 cm). Baseline 18F-FDG PET/CT revealed a large avid exophytic mass (SUVmax 23, 17 × 14 × 13) in atrophic left kidney, with multiple retroperitoneal lymphadenopathies and a suspicious lung nodule. She underwent left open radical nephrectomy. Follow-up PET/CT after 1 month revealed multiple soft tissue deposits in operative bed and other unusual metastatic sites.

A general method of collapse load analysis was proposed by the writers in an earlier paper for reinforced concrete indeterminate frames in which the members are subjected to combined bending, torsion, and shear. The application of the method to the case of fixedended beams, curved in plan and subjected to a point load, is described in this paper in detail. The theoretical predictions are then compared with the writers' test data as well as those available in the literature. In general, the method gives a good prediction of the behavior and strength of reinforced concrete nonprestressed curved beams at collapse.

Tests have recently been conducted at the University of New South Wales on halfscale models of edge panels of a reinforced concrete flat plate floor. Moments were measured along lines parallel to the edge of the building: 1 Just inside the spandrel; 2 at midspan; and 3 at the first interior column. The measurements provided the distribution of slab moments across a panel and, thus, by integration, the total panel moment at each of these locations.

Synopsis This paper presents a rational theory for the prediction of the steel quantities required for a fully or partially balanced failure of a prestressed concrete beam of rectangular section subjected to combined bending and torsion. The theory is based on the general theory given in an earlier paper. An interaction diagram is presented which shows the steel strains at failure as a function of the steel quantities. The influence of some parameters upon the steel quantities required for a fully balanced failure is also examined.

Synopsis Tests were carried out on four half-size models of flat-slab floors. Each model represented two panels at the edge of a building. They were tested under simulated uniformly distributed load with the object of investigating the distribution of moments and shears on the three faces of an edge column. The three force components at the pin support at the foot of the test column were measured; strain gauges were also attached to the reinforcement. From these measurements, expressions are developed which predict what proportions of the total panel moment and shear enter the column directly as bending and shear at the column face. The remainder enters via the spandrel beam or spandrel-strip. Statics then enables the torsion, shear and bending in the spandrel to be calculated,

Synopsis The results are reported of tests on fifteen hollow prestressed concrete beams tested in combined torsion and bending. The main variables are the wall thickness and the torquelmoment ratio. Equations are given for both the cracking strength and the ultimate strength.

Synopsis Observations obtained from tests on seventy-five reinforced concrete beams under combined bending and torsion are discussed in detail. The test results are studied in the light of a theory developed by the authors and good agreement is observed between theoretical and test results. The test results are useful for an understanding of the exact interaction between moments, and they bring out the influence of various factors upon the capacity of beams. Further, both tesl and theoretical results suggest that the interaction diagram varies with all the properties of beams.
