Currently, clinical biomarkers are urgently needed to improve patient management to guide personal therapy for cancer. In this study, we investigate the deregulation of Zeb-1in prostate cancer (PC) Tunisian patients. Expression patterns of the Zeb-1were investigated in prostate adenocarcinoma and benign prostate biopsies using quantitative real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and 2-ΔΔCt method. Statistical analysis was used to identify differences across groups depending on gene expression level. Furthermore, we exploited a follow-up over 15 years to correlate Zeb-1deregulation and clinical outcomes in PC patients. Based on ROC curve analyses, the AUC was found in discriminating PC patients from controls (AUC = 0.757; p< 0.001). In addition, the higher expression level was significantly associated with PSA, Digital Rectal Examination, Gleason score, tumor stage, and distant lymph node metastases. Moreover, Zeb-1overexpression was correlated with shorter overall survival (OS) (p= 0.042), poor progression-free survival (PFS) (p= 0.007), and with resistance to taxanes (p= 0.012). Our data provide the aberrant expression of Zeb-1in PC patients suggesting its potential diagnostic, prognostic, and theranostic role. Further functional studies are mandatory to strengthen these results and to uncover the molecular mechanism of this neoplasm.

Objective:To report a series of Granulomatous Spondylodiscitis (GS) with focus on the histopathological features of the different forms of GS.Design:Case series.Setting:Pathology department of Charles Nicolle’s Hospital of TunisiaParticipants:This study included 57 patients diagnosed with GS. There were 44 (77.2%) female patients and 13 (22.8%) male patients (sex ratio = 0.28).Intervention:Not applicable.Outcome measures:Clinical, microbiological and histopathological features were assessed in this study.Results:Fifty-seven patients with GS were enrolled: 51 tuberculous spondylodiscitis (TS), 2 fungal spondylodiscitis (FS), 3 brucellar spondylodiscitis (BS) and 1 case of sarcoidosis. Granulomas with necrosis were seen in 38 (66.6%) cases: 36 TS and 2 FS, while granulomas without necrosis were observed in the remaining 19 cases: 15 TS, 3 BS and 1 sarcoidosis. In all cases of TS, granulomas were epithelioid type, associated with histiocytic type granulomas in 7 cases. Caseous necrosis was seen in 35 cases of TS and suppurative granuloma in one case. The 3 cases of BS exhibited non-necrotizing and histiocytic type granulomas. The 2 cases of FS showed histiocytic, epithelioid and necrotizing granulomas. Necrosis was mixed: suppurative and caseous in both cases of FS. Sarcoidosis was characterized with epithelioid type granulomas without necrosis.Conclusion:Granuloma with caseous necrosis is highly suggestive of TS but does not rule out FS. Certain fungi can exhibit this type of necrosis as do tuberculosis species. Suppurative inflammation, although rare in TS, does exist.Histiocytic type granuloma without necrosis is suggestive of brucellosis.

Introduction: Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF) is an immunosuppressive drug usually used in kidney transplants to prevent rejection. It has various adverse effects such as leucopenia, anemia, diarrhea but Mouth ulcers are rarely reported. Method: We present a case report of MMF-induced mouth ulcers in an African patient. Case Report: A 41-year-old African-male patient has painful oral ulcers which developed 5 months after kidney transplantation. The immunosuppressive maintenance regimen comprised Steroids, Tacrolimus and MMF. Result: These ulcers were firstly related to a fungic or viral infection so the patient was prescribed Fluconazole and Aciclovir without any improvement. Then, Tacrolimus blood level was checked and it was in a therapeutic range. Finally, we decide to stop MMF and the ulcers healed quickly. Discussion: Oral ulcers are frequently seen complications in immunosuppressant patient but are rarely described with MMF. These ulcers can become large and very painful and degrade patient's life quality. So when infections causes are excluded, we have to keep in mind that these ulcers can be a drug adverse effect.

Le plasmocytome solitaire est une tumeur maligne caractérisée par une prolifération monoclonale de plasmocytes. Il atteint préférentiellement le rachis et le pelvis. Sa localisation mandibulaire est exceptionnelle. Les auteurs rapportent deux observations et rappellent les aspects radiocliniques, thérapeutiques et évolutifs de cette pathologie rare. Il s’agissait d’un homme et d’une femme âgés respectivement de 38 et 70 ans qui ont consulté pour des tumeurs mandibulaires étiquetées histologiquement plasmocytome. Le bilan d’extension tumorale était négatif, dans les deux cas, confirmant son caractère solitaire. Une exérèse tumorale a été réalisée chez les deux patients.L’évolution était marquée par une transformation myélomateuse dans le premier cas nécessitant une polychimiothérapie adjuvante.

Primary bladder cancer is a frequent malignancy in the urology field, whereas secondary bladder neoplasms from a distant organ are extremely rare. This paper aims to report two rare cases of a secondary tumor of the urinary bladder from a primary gastric tumor and to perform a literature review of similar reported cases in order to better characterize its clinicopathological features and diagnosis in effort to shed light on this rare condition. The final diagnosis of secondary adenocarcinoma was made histologically after transurethral biopsy or resection of the bladder lesion. In one case, the bladder metastasis was a synchronous metastasis, and in the second case, it occurred under chemotherapy five months after initial diagnosis with gastric adenocarcinoma. Secondary adenocarcinoma of the bladder is extremely rare but should be considered when evaluating a bladder lesion in a patient treated for gastric cancer or presenting with gastric symptoms.
