Abstract

•Analysis of individual and interactive stressors effects on maize showed that trait responses could vary with stresses during grain filling.•Stomatal conductance displayed an opposite response between drought and heat or combined stress during the mid-grain filling.•Yield components were highly sensitive to combined drought and heat stresses.•'Mo17' was found to be a relatively stress-tolerant genotype than 'B73'.
