AbstractNeurodevelopmental disorders do not have biological markers that allow for their identification. This means that in most cases, diagnosis is based on behavior. This approach implies that difficulties will exist in establishing the diagnostic boundaries of the different nosological entities, and it argues that neurodevelopmental disorders probably share neuropsychological deficits. Our main objective was to study whether neurodevelopmental disorders share a common endophenotype. We carried out a study of memory in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Developmental Language Disorders (DLD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). For this purpose, we administered an extensive neuropsychological battery to evaluate memory to 24(ASD), 25(DLD), and 25(ADHD) children. The results obtained by these three clinical groups were contrasted with those obtained by a group of 25 children of typical development (TD). TD group performed better in all memory tasks, except the recognition task than the clinical groups, and the clinical groups showed slight differences among themselves in their performance in memory tasks. These results show that memory deficits could represent a common endophenotype at least in these three neurodevelopmental disorders and emphasize the need to intervene in memory disorders in this population.

The main objective of the present study has been to verify the effectiveness of an intervention program on the lexical organization of pupils with Typical Development and with developmental language disorder. A total of 99 five-year-old pupils from schools in the Tenerife Island (Canary Islands, Spain) participated. The subtests of expressive vocabulary and of receptive and expressive word classes of the CELF-4 were used. The intervention program consisted of 75 sessions lasting 20minutes each. The results indicated that pupils diagnosed with developmental language disorder initially performed worse in vocabulary and word classes than those with TD. Also, the pupils with developmental language disorder not only improved their performance by the end of the program, but were found to be the group with the greatest gains from the intervention. There are educational implications for organizing an early intervention of an inclusive nature.

El objetivo principal de la presente investigación es comprobar la efectividad de un programa de intervención sobre la organización léxica de alumnado con desarrollo típico y con trastorno del desarrollo del lenguaje. Participan un total de 99 alumnos de cinco años de edad de colegios de la Isla de Tenerife (Islas Canarias, España). Se utilizan los subtest de vocabulario expresivo, de clases de palabras receptivo y expresivo del CELF-4. El programa de intervención consta de 75 sesiones de 20 minutos de duración. Los resultados indican que el alumnado diagnosticado con trastorno del desarrollo del lenguaje presenta inicialmente un peor rendimiento en vocabulario y clases de palabras que el diagnosticado con desarrollo típico. Una vez finalizado el programa, el alumnado con trastorno del desarrollo del lenguaje además de mejorar su rendimiento, es el grupo que presenta mayores ganancias. Existen implicaciones educativas para organizar una intervención temprana de naturaleza inclusiva.

El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar los efectos de un programa de intervención diseñado para mejorar habilidades gramaticales en alumnado con trastorno específico del lenguaje (TEL). La muestra la conforma un grupo de 34 alumnos diagnosticados con TEL y 34 niños con desarrollo típico. Para su selección se utiliza el test CELF-3, el test Peabody, los subtests de Asociación Auditiva y Asociación Visual del ITPA y el test de Inteligencia K-BIT. El programa de intervención se lleva a cabo a lo largo de 216 sesiones de 40 minutos de duración cada una, combinando actividades de narraciones orales con otras relacionadas con la automatización de habilidades morfosintácticas. Los resultados indican mejoras significativas en el grupo de alumnado con TEL en comparación con los controles en términos de reducción de oraciones agramaticales y de errores sintácticos y morfológicos. En conclusión, un programa combinado de estimulación de habilidades narrativas y morfosintácticas mejora el rendimiento gramatical del alumnado con TEL.

In this research, it is presented an intervention program that combines storytelling with morphosyntactic activities to improve grammatical skills in pupils with Specific Language Impairment (SLI). The sample consisted of a total of 34 pupils diagnosed with SLI and 34 children with typical language development. For the selection of the sample, the CELF-3 test, the Peabody test, the Hearing Association and Visual Association subtests of the ITPA and the K-BIT Intelligence test were used. The intervention program consisted of 216 sessions of 40minutes each, in which oral narrative activities were combined with other activities related to the automation of morphosyntactic skills. Significant gains were also made in the group of children with SLI versus controls in total ungrammaticality, ungrammatical sentences, morphological and syntactical errors. In conclusion, a combined program of both storytelling and morphosyntactic skills improves grammatical achievement in pupils with SLI.
