The article discusses syncopation formulas that would help apply Tihai rhythms in Western musical perspective. The author stresses that the best way to learn Indian rhythms is in the presence of Indian percussion masters because they can instill Indian syncopation and feel the learner's musical abilities. Tihai is defined as an identifiable phrase repeated thrice asymmetrically over the bar lines. A guide to an Indian master lesson of Tihai is provided.
