•Fluorite pearls characterize Middle Neolithic sites in Belgium and Northern France.•Fluorite associated to Michelsberg culture, Spiere group and northern Chassean.•Raw fluorite mainly derives from Dinantian limestones of Central Belgium.•Source(s) for Neolithic fluorite differs from Upper Palaeolithic fluorite.•Sr isotopes ratio is a method allowing to trace the source of fluorite.•Interpretation of REEs curves must be used with caution.
