A commercial process was developed to treat a Ca-based Mo-V residue generated in Mo processing plant. Vanadium was selectively leached using acetic acid and recovered as iron vanadate by hydro process. Process conditions for selective V leaching and iron vanadate precipitation were investigated. V recovery efficiency of 90.3% was achieved with a V content of 26.5% and an Fe content of 29% in the iron vanadate cake suitable for ferrovanadium industry. The overall Mo recovery in the whole process was 98.6%. The obtained leach residue containing 14.3% Mo with negligible impurities can be used as a feed material for the Mo production process or ferromolybdenum industry. This simple and economical process generates two product streams from a single operation and has the potential to solve a long standing problem of handling such a mixed Mo-V residue.

Odisha state is in the eastern part of India and its language, Odia () is the mother tongue and used by more than 40 million people of Odisha for writting. It is the tenth largest language as scheduled in the constitution part-VIII of India. Odisha has very old history and rich culture; its heritages are present in form Odia language text. So to mine and extract useful information of this language sentiment analysis has been used. Sentiment analysis technique is used for identifying the emotions behind the given text to understand the attitude, opinion and emotions expressed in the language. This paper investigates Sentiment analysis of Odia text using supervised classification techniques. We applied simple Naive Bayes (NB), Logistic Regression and SVM on Odia text and evaluate its effect. This system takes the Odia movie reviews and gives you the unbiased sentiments of the people in positive and negative polarity. Three evaluation measure accuracy, precision and recall is used, on which system performance is computed and compared. The experimental result demonstrate the superiority of the logistic regression model.

Distributed computing has become very popular these days due to its speed, accuracy and fault tolerance capability. In this pa-per, we have considered the distributed Aspect-Oriented Programs (AOPs) where message passing and synchronization are handled by Aspects. In this paper, we present a parallel dynamic slicing algorithm for distributed AOPs. We introduce parallelism into our slicing algorithm to make the slice computation process much faster. Our algorithm is implemented on our developed tool, called DDG generator, to generate the required intermediate graphs for distributed AOPs. The proposed slicing technique is compared with one related existing technique using three case studies. The experimental results show that our proposed slicing algorithm generates precise slices in less time as compared to the existing algorithm.

The synthesis of C21-C26 fragment of superstolide A, starting from D-glucose diacetonide, involving regioselective ring opening of epoxide by Grignard reagent and regioselective stereospecefic hydroboration oxidation has been described.

The leaching of a complex matte in chlorine and chloride media was studied. The matte was prepared from manganese nodules by the reduction smelting-sulfidation route. From XRD analysis, the major phases of the matte were identified as CuFeS2, CuS2, (FeNi)9S8, (FeNi)S2, Ni9S8, Ni3S2, (CoFeNi)9S8and Co metal. Investigated were the chlorine, hydrochloric acid, hydrochloric acid-oxygen, ferric chloride, ferric chloride-oxygen, cupric chloride and cupric chloride-oxygen systems. The results are discussed in terms of reagent concentration retention time, leach temperature and gas sparging rate. The chlorination process resulted >99% metal extraction efficiency within a short retention time and at atmospheric temperature. However, there were no preferential extractions of Cu, Ni and Co with respect to Fe. The cupric chloride-oxygen system produced leach liquors with the lowest Fe content and with a high base-metal extraction. Sulfide sulfur was converted to mixtures of elemental sulfur and sulfate in all the studied systems.

The possibility of using 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol dissolved in tetrachloromethane as extractant for boron recovery is discussed. The parameters optimized for this purpose are contact time, boron concentration in the aqueous phase, extractant concentration, equilibrium pH and phase ratio. NaOH is used as stripping agent for boron recovery from the loaded organic phase. Boron extraction is found to be a slow process (equilibrium time 20 minutes) compared to boron stripping, which is reasonably fast (equilibrium time 5 min). Maximum boron extraction is possible at a broad pH range from 1.0 to 6.0. Using 1.0M extractant concentration, a 1:1 phase ratio (organic: aqueous) and two stages, ~99% boron extraction is achieved. More than 97% boron stripping is possible using 0.5M NaOH at a 1:1 (organic: aqueous) phase ratio in two stages. Overall, a 95.6% boron recovery was achieved. Loss of solvent into the aqueous phase and co-extraction of Ca, Na and K into the organic phase at higher equilibrium pH are two major concerns in his process.

Extraction of Al(III) from aqueous sulfuric acid solutions into organic Cyanex 272®-carbon tetrachloride systems was investigated from a multi-component mixture containing aluminum, cobalt and nickel Al(III) extraction efficiency was quantitative with 1.0 M Cyanex 272® in two stages at an aqueous:organic (A.O) phase ratio of 1:1 and an equilibrium pH of 3.2. The stripping of Al(III) from the loaded organic (LO) with different acids indicated sulfuric acid to be the best stripping agent. More than 99% stripping of Al(III) from the LO was achieved using 2 M H2SO4at an A:O phase ratio of 1:1 in a single stage. The stoichiometry of the extracted species of Al(III) was determined by the slope analysis method. The extraction reaction proceeded via the cation exchange mechanism and the extracted species was assumed to be AlA3·3HA, where HA refers to the dimeric and A the anionic form of the extractante, Cyanex 272®. The extraction of Al(III) was studied in the presence of various ions to ascertain the tolerance limit of individual ions.

Nosocomial blood stream infections (BSI) due to fungi especially Candidais increasing steadily. A two year prospective study was conducted in the S.C.B. Medical College with an aim to evaluate the species distribution, antifungal susceptibility and biofilm formation of Candida spp. isolated from nosocomial BSIs. 34 Candida spp. were isolated from 359 blood cultures. Antifungal susceptibility was performed by microbroth dilution technique and both visual and spectrophotometric method were used for biofilm detection. C. tropicaliswas the common spp. isolated followed by C. parapsilosisand others. Most (92%) of the isolates were susceptible to Amphoterecin-B and highest resistance was observed against Flucytosine (37%) and Fluconazole(35%). Biofilm production and antifungal resistance was observed more in nonalbicans Candida spp.

A large number of improved high-temperature stable semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPNs) were synthesized by condensing copolymerized resins with castor oil-based polyurethane using ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDM) as a crosslinker. The structures of these semi-IPNs were studied using various characterization techniques such as IR and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra, and the thermal behavior of the semi-IPNs was also studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Substituted aromatic compounds incorporated-cardanol-formaldehyde novolac resins were synthesized by acid base catalyzed reactions. A number of improved high temperature stable interpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPNs) were prepared by condensing novolac resins and polyurethanes prepared from castor oil and diisocyanates of varying NCO/OH ratio. The structure of these semi-IPNs were studied using various characterization techniques such as IR, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra. The scanning electron microscopy of some of the semi-IPNs have been studied and the morphology has been examined. The samples were subjected to wide angle X-ray diffraction analysis. Ovary culture has been employed for the production of interspecific hybrids of a partially compatible cross of Brassica juncea (2n=36) × Brassica campestris (2n=20). Five to seven days old ovaries cultured on White's medium supplemented with casein hydrolysate (300 mg/l) and sucrose (5%) produced more seeds than any other media tried, but seed development was better on media fortified with plant hormones. The seed yield was better in B. juncea × B. campestris than their reciprocal cross. The plants obtained from ovary-derived seeds were transferred to the field; they were intermediate in some morphological characters and chromosome number (2n=28) as compared to their parents. The flower buds generally did not open and had poorly developed anthers with mostly sterile pollen. The pod size/setting was very much reduced, but healthy seeds were obtained.

Interspecific hybrids have been obtained in an otherwise incompatible cross betweenBrassica juncea × Brassica hirta through the in vitro culture of hybrid ovules and ovaries. The best response was observed from ovules and ovaries cultured 10–15 and 5–7 days after pollination respectively on a basal medium supplemented with indoleacetic acid, kinetin and casein hydrolysate. In some cases the basal cut end of the ovaries proliferated to form callus and shoots. The in vitro-derived hybrid seeds varied in their colour, size and shape, and the F1 plants in the field showed a large diversity in their morphological traits. The hybrids were sterile, and had an intermediate number of chromosomes (2n=30).

The toxicity of mercury ion, on Chlorella vulgaris, is largely influenced by amino acids. Five amino acids, namely alanine, asparagine, glutamic acid, cysteine and histidine, were added separately to the medium containing static dose of mercury. Survival (%) of the alga was reduced with the increasing concentrations of mercury. Of these five amino acids, cysteine was found to be the most effective while alanine and glutamic acid were the least effective on reducing the toxic effect of mercury on the alga measured in terms of growth, chlorophyll and protein content.

A chiral pool approach to the title segment (IX) is disclosed in which the key fragment (VII), obtained from D‐glucose diacetonide, plays a central role serving not only as the source of the C23‐C26 stereocenters but also sets the stage for introducing the C22 stereocenter through regio‐ as well as stereospecific hydroboration oxidation protocol with regard to the exo‐methylenic group in (VII).
