This article discusses the financial and monetary reforms that occurred in Mexico between 1931 and 1932. The author comments on the financial crisis that preceded the currency reform in the country and describes the role of the Mexican government in creating and implementing monetary policies related to the gold standard and the minting of silver coin. The impact of these changes on the Banco Central (Central Bank) of Mexico is explored and the amendments made to the fiscal policies in 1932 are analyzed.
