In the present study we present and discuss the identification of species-specific SNPs to rule out any experimental influence of species-specific primer design (Populus tremula vs. the closely related model-species Populus trichocarpa) on the detectability of SNPs. Applying a species-optimized method, partial sequences of 14 genes involved in xylem cell development, xylogenesis, pectin formation, and drought stress reaction were analyzed at the genomic level. About 3 Mb of sequence information were generated by Sanger sequencing technology and 258 sequence variants were identified. 15 out of these represent insertions /deletions located exclusively in non-coding regions and the remaining 243 are SNPs found in coding and non-coding regions of candidate genes.

Zusammenfassung: Grundlagen: Die aszendierende Cholangitis stellt eine mgliche Komplikation nach biliodigestiven Anastomosen dar. In diesem Versuchsvorhaben sollten 3 verschiedene operative Techniken mit bakteriologischen Untersuchungen der Gallenwege und des oberen Gastrointestinaltraktes verglichen und die Frage pathologischer Fehlbesiedelung geklrt werden. Methodik: Von 30 Minipigs mit 3 verschiedenen biliodigestiven Anastomosen (Choledochoduodenostomie, Choledochojejunostomie Y-en-Roux, Jejunuminterposition) wurden Proben aus Magen, extrahepatischem Ductus choledochus, Duodenum, Jejunum und Roux-Schlinge bzw. Jejunuminterponat qualitativ und quantitativ bakteriologisch untersucht (mittlere berlebenszeit 470 Tage. 25 gesunde Tiere und 9 cholezystektomierte Minipigs dienten als Kontrollgruppen. Ergebnisse: Bei allen 3 Anastomosengruppen kam es durch obligates bakterielles berwachsen der ortsstndigen Flora zu einer Erhhung der Bakteriennachweishufigkeit und der Bakterienkonzentrationen. Vorteile der Y-en-Roux-Anastomose zeigten sich im Duodenum und im Ductus choledochus, wo vor allem die Nachweishufigkeit des pathogenetisch wichtigen kombinierten Wachstums aerober und anaerober Bakterien nicht signifikant erhht war. Auch der Anstieg der Gesamtbakterienkonzentration erreichte im Gallengang nicht die hohen Werte von Choledochoduodenostomie und Jejunuminterposition. Schlufolgerung: Alle 3 biliodigestiven Anastomosentechniken fhrten zu einer obligaten bakteriellen Besiedelung. Bei dieser latenten Bedrohung des Patienten bahnt ein co-pathogener Faktor, wie z. B. die Cholestase, den Weg zur aszendierenden Cholangitis. Aufgrund der Hufigkeitsverteilung der Bakterien in den Proben und der Bakterienzahlen, vor allem im Gallengang, erscheint jedoch die Choledochojejunostomie Y-en-Roux noch als die sicherste Operationsmethode.

Abstract: A survey was carried out in 1988 to determine the occurrence and distribution of the flyPhytomyza orobanchia Kaltenbach [Diptera: Agromyzidae] on broomrape (Orobanche crenata Forskal) at 21 locations in northwestern Syria. Fruit capsules of broomrape were examined in faba bean (Vicia faba L.) fields. The fly was present at 95% of the locations sampled. Of 630 broomrape plants examined over all locations, 55.5% were infested. Of the 1,890 capsules examined, 32.5% were attacked. Fly populations were highest near the coast where 79% of the broomrapes were damaged. The total seed output of broomrape plants was reduced by 29.4% in the surveyed area due to a mean seed destruction of 91.1% per infested broomrape capsule.

Isolation of fungi from samples of Orobanche crenata Forsk. and Orobanche minor Sm. plants collected from Syria, Morocco, and France yielded 16 different species belonging to nine genera. The most common genera were Alternaria, Fusarlum and Ulocladium. Eleven species out of the 16 had not been known previously to have occurred on Orobanche. In the preliminary laboratory and field tests Ulocladium atrum Preuss. could infect and destroy underground tubercles and emerged shoots of O. crenata provided temperature was around 20°C and the relative humidity between 50% and 80%. Its use as a potential biological control of Orobanche appears promising and should, therefore, be further studied.

Durch Umsetzung von Selenocarbohydrazid mit Cyansäure und Thiocyansäure wurden 1-Carbamoyl-selenocarbohydrazid, NH2-CO-NH-NH-CSe-NH-NH2, und 1-Thiocarbamoyl-seleno-carbohydrazid, NH2-CS-NH-NH-CSe-NH-NH2, durch Reaktion des Sulfates von Selenocarbohydrazid mit Ammoniumthiocyanat das 1.5-Bis-thiocarbamoyl-selenocarbohydrazid, NH2-CS-NH-NH-CSe-NH-NH-CS-NH2, erstmals dargestellt. 1-Carbamoyl-selenocarbo-hydrazid und 1-Thiocarbamoyl-selenocarbohydrazid reagieren mit Aldehyden unter Hydrazonbildung. Zur weiteren Charakterisierung wurden alle Verbindungen IR-spektroskopisch und röntgenographisch untersucht, wobei gezeigt werden konnte, daß sie ganz analog den entsprechenden Thiocarbohydrazid-Derivaten aufgebaut sind.

With barium hydrazide, which is easily to prepare and relatively harmless to handle, some addition-, substitution- and reduction-reactions were carried out. Partially we could get the same, partially however other products than by the analogous reactions with the normally used, but highly explosive sodium hydrazide. Especially the formation of the azo-compound H5C6-CH2-CH2-N = N-CH2-CH2-C6H5and of H5C6-C(NH)-NH-NH-C(NH)-C6H5by the addition of barium hydrazide to styrene resp. benzoic nitrile was remarkable.
