AbstractThe aim of this study was to adapt an Arabic version of the Media and Technology Usage and Attitudes Scale (MTUAS) to the Saudi culture and examine the psychometric properties of the adapted version in a sample of 1,709 undergraduate students. Evidence of construct validity and internal consistency reliability was first compiled through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA and CFA) and Cronbach’s α coefficients. Multigroup CFA (MGCFA) was then conducted to test gender-related measurement invariance. The EFA yielded nine factors for the Usage scale and four factors for the Attitudes scale of the MTUAS, all of which were satisfactorily confirmed via CFA. Factors of the MTUAS exhibited adequate to good reliability and were gender invariant. Overall, the Arabic MTUAS displayed good psychometric properties in the Saudi undergraduate student population and was gender unbiased. Therefore, it can be used confidently across educational, public health, and marketing research in Saudi and Arabic contexts. Nevertheless, it is important to note that other psychometric properties, such as criterion-related validity, were not compiled in the present study, and the generalizability of the current findings might be restricted to the Saudi undergraduate student population. Hence, these limitations should be given more consideration in future studies by examining additional psychometric properties of the Arabic MTUAS and using comprehensive national data. A significant percentage of bridges in the United States are serving beyond their 50-year design life, and many of them are in poor condition, making them vulnerable to fatigue cracks that can result in catastrophic failure. However, current fatigue crack inspection practice based on human vision is time-consuming, labor intensive, and prone to error. We present a novel human-centered bridge inspection methodology to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of fatigue crack detection by employing advanced technologies including computer vision and augmented reality (AR). In particular, a computer vision-based algorithm is developed to enable near-real-time fatigue crack detection by analyzing structural surface motion in a short video recorded by a moving camera of the AR headset. The approach monitors structural surfaces by tracking feature points and measuring variations in distances between feature point pairs to recognize the motion pattern associated with the crack opening and closing. Measuring distance changes between feature points, as opposed to their displacement changes before this improvement, eliminates the need of camera motion compensation and enables reliable and computationally efficient fatigue crack detection using the nonstationary AR headset. In addition, an AR environment is created and integrated with the computer vision algorithm. The crack detection results are transmitted to the AR headset worn by the bridge inspector, where they are converted into holograms and anchored on the bridge surface in the 3D real-world environment. The AR environment also provides virtual menus to support human-in-the-loop decision-making to determine optimal crack detection parameters. This human-centered approach with improved visualization and human–machine collaboration aids the inspector in making well-informed decisions in the field in a near-real-time fashion. The proposed crack detection method is comprehensively assessed using two laboratory test setups for both in-plane and out-of-plane fatigue cracks. In this paper, the rotational pressure-correction schemes for the closed-loop geothermal system are developed and analyzed. The primary benefit of this projection method is to replace the incompressible condition. The system is considered consisting of two distinct regions, with the free flow region governed by the Navier–Stokes equations and the porous media region governed by Darcy’s law. At the same time, the heat equations are coupled with the flow equations to describe the heat transfer in both regions. In the closed-loop geothermal system, the rotational pressure-correction schemes are used for the Navier–Stokes equations in the free flow region, and the direct decoupled scheme is used for the other equations. Besides, the stability of the proposed methods is proved. Finally, the high efficiency and applicability of the decoupled scheme are verified by 2D/3D numerical experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

(1- x)MgAl 2 O 4 - x MgTa 2 O 6 composite ceramics based on the MgO-Al 2 O 3 -Ta 2 O 5 pseudoternary phase diagram were prepared by the solid-state reaction. MgAl 2 O 4 and MgTa 2 O 6 could coexist due to their different crystal structures. MgAl 2 O 4 inhibited the rapid growth of MgTa 2 O 6 grains, and dense microstructures (ρ > 95%) with a uniform grain size distribution was obtained, with an optimal densification temperature of 1550 - 1575 °C. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (τ f) and quality factor (Q × f) were optimized by introducing MgTa 2 O 6 phases with low dielectric loss and positive τ f. In addition, the partial solid solutions of Al3+ into Ta5+ sites resulted in loosening bonds within [Al/TaO 6 ] octahedra and abnormally large polarizabilities, which was confirmed by the decrease in V Ta-O and the redshift of A 1 g (Ta-O) mode. Consequently, the relative permittivity (ε r) and τ f values o f MgAl 2 O 4 -MgTa 2 O 6 composite ceramics were further enhanced, exceeding the predicted ones. The 0.6MgAl 2 O 4 -0.4MgTa 2 O 6 composition sintered at 1550 °C achieved excellent performance, with a near-zero τ f value of 3.3 ± 1.7 ppm/°C, a low ε r of 16.4 ± 0.3 and an ultra-high Q × f of 179,000 ± 6700 GHz @ 8.94 ± 0.04 GHz. General surgery is a highly litigious specialty. Lawsuits can be a source of emotional distress and burnout for surgeons. Major hepatic and pancreatic surgeries are technically challenging general surgical oncology procedures associated with an increased risk of complications and mortality. It is unclear whether these operations are associated with an increased risk of lawsuits. The objective of the present study was to summarize the medical malpractice claims surrounding pancreatic and hepatic surgeries from publicly available court records. The Westlaw legal database was searched and analyzed for relevant malpractice claims from the last two decades. Of 165 search results, 30 (18.2%) cases were eligible for inclusion. Appellant cases comprised 53.3% of them. Half involved a patient death. Including co-defendants, a majority (n = 21, 70%) named surgeons as defendants, whereas several claims (n = 13, 43%) also named non-surgeons. The most common cause of alleged malpractice was a delay in diagnosis (n = 12, 40%). In eight of these, surgery could not be performed. The second most common were claims alleging the follow-up surgery was due to negligence (n = 6). Collectively, 20 claims were found in favor of the defendant. Seven verdicts (23.3%) returned in favor of the plaintiff, two of which resulted in monetary awards (totaling $1,608,325 and $424,933.85). Three cases went to trial or delayed motion for summary judgment. There were no settlements. A defendant verdict was reached in two-thirds of malpractice cases involving major hepatic or pancreatic surgery. A delay in diagnosis was the most cited claim in hepatopancreaticobiliary lawsuits, and defendants may often practice in nonsurgical specialties. The species Citrus hongheensis is an endangered species and the most primitive Citrus species with the most developed winged leaves. It is endemic to south Yunnan Province, southwest China, and only distributed in a very narrow area along the south bank of the Honghe river (the Yuanjiang river). By combining ISSR and morphological data from 11 populations, it shows that the species has rich genetic diversity among and within populations although the population is declining gradually. According to field and market surveys, the local Hani people have traditionally used C. hongheensis for a long time, such as the dried young fruits of the species as Chinese traditional medicine, leaves as food spice, as well as other organs. By collecting all existing knowledge of traditional and present uses, as well as further potential uses, we demonstrate that the species has good development prospects. Based on rich diversity, ethnobotanical uses, and a positive cultural environment, it was decided to choose four populations (YJNNDM, LCDX, HHDYJ, and YJYJYJ) of C. hongheensis for in situ conservation and artificial sexual reproduction. Shallow geothermal heat has the characteristics of wide distribution and huge reserves. However, for northern rural buildings, the heating load in winter is much greater than the cooling load in summer, and thermal imbalance of the soil is prone to occur. This paper takes rural residences in southern Hebei as an example and designs a solar-assisted shallow geothermal energy system. Compared with the original shallow ground-source heat pump system, the indoor and outdoor temperature differences of the target building were first analyzed. Second, the changes in the soil temperature field and the differences in the supply and return water temperature were monitored. Finally, the initial investment and operating costs of the assisted system are analyzed. The results show that the average ground temperature field increases significantly in winter. Through the alternate operation of solar energy and ground-source heat pumps, heat extraction from the ground is reduced, and the imbalance cycle of heat extraction in winter and heat removal in summer is shortened. It alleviates the imbalance of the cold and heat loads for soil throughout the year. The inlet and outlet water temperature and heat exchange efficiency of the buried pipes have been significantly improved. The energy efficiency ratio of the system using the assisted system has increased from 3.40 in 2020 to 4.17, an increase of 0.77. The optimal ratio of the solar- assisted shallow geothermal energy system is a 12.80 m2 solar heat-collection area and one buried hole. The winter heating operating cost of the solar-assisted shallow geothermal energy system is 18.86 CNY/m2. It can save 37% of the annual operating costs of heating, cooling, and hot water compared to a single ground-source heat pump system and 40%–45% compared to traditional heating and cooling modes. Objective: In the era of stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), many studies have been devoted to understanding the role of interictal high‐frequency oscillations. High‐frequency activity (HFA) at seizure onset has been identified as a marker of epileptogenic zone. We address the physiological significance of ictal HFAs and their relation to clinical semiology. Methods: We retrospectively identified patients with pure focal primary motor epilepsy. We selected only patients in whom SEEG electrodes were optimally placed in the motor cortex as confirmed by electrical stimulation. Based on these narrow inclusion criteria, we extensively studied 5 patients (3 males and 2 females, mean age = 22.4 years) using time–frequency analysis and time correlation with motor signs onset. Results: A total of 157 analyzable seizures were recorded in 5 subjects. The first 2 subjects had tonic or clonic semiology with rare secondary generalization. Subject 3 had atonic onset followed by clonic hand/arm flexion. Subject 4 had clusters of tonic and atonic facial movements. Subject 5 had upper extremity tonic movements. The median frequency of the fast activity extracted from the Epileptogenic Zone Fingerprint pipeline in the first 4 subjects was 76 Hz (interquartile range = 21.9Hz). Positive motor signs did not occur concomitantly with high gamma activity developing in the motor cortex. Motor signs began at the end of HFAs. Interpretation: This study supports the hypothesis of an inhibitory effect of ictal HFAs. The frequency range in the gamma band was associated with the direction of the clinical output effect. Anatomical sectionectomy based on Takasaki's segmentation has shown advantages in hepatocellular carcinoma. However, whether this approach improves the survival of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remains unknown. A series of 248 consecutive patients with solitary ICCs who underwent hepatectomy were studied retrospectively. The patients were classified into the groups of anatomical sectionectomy based on Takasaki's segmentation (TS group) and non-Takasaki's hepatectomy (NTH group). The bias between the two groups was minimized using propensity score matching (PSM). Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were evaluated with Kaplan–Meier analysis. The Cox proportional hazards model was performed to determine the adverse risk factors associated with survival. After PSM, 67 pairs of patients were compared. Both the RFS and OS rates in the TS group were significantly better than those in the NTH group (23.2 % vs. 16.5 %, and 40.4 % vs. 27.3 %, P = 0.035 and 0.032, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed that NTH was independently associated with worse RFS and OS than TS. The stratified analysis demonstrated that the RFS and OS rates in the TS group with tumor stage I and tumor size ≥3 cm were significantly better than those in the NTH group, while the survival rates for ICC with stage I and tumor size <3 cm or stage II-III showed no significant difference. TS was associated with improved RFS and OS in patients with solitary ICC even after PSM. TS may be preferred particularly in patients with tumor stage I and tumor size ≥3 cm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ATG10S is a newly discovered subtype of the autophagy protein ATG10. It promotes complete macroautophagy/autophagy, degrades multiple viral proteins, and increases the expression of type III interferons. Here, we aimed to investigate the mechanism of ATG10S cooperation with IFNL1 to degrade viral proteins from different viruses. Using western blot, immunoprecipitation (IP), tandem sensor RFP-GFP-LC3B and in situ proximity ligation assays, we showed that exogenous recombinant ATG10S protein (rHsATG10S) could enter into cells through clathrin, and ATG10S combined with ATG7 with IFNL1 assistance to facilitate ATG12–ATG5 conjugation, thereby contributing to the autophagosome formation in multiple cell lines containing different virions or viral proteins. The results of DNA IP and luciferase assays also showed that ATG10S was able to directly bind to a core motif (CAAGGG) within a binding site of transcription factor ZNF460 on the IFNL1 promoter, by which IFNL1 transcription was activated. These results clarified that ATG10S promoted autophagosome formation with the assistance of IFNL1 to ensure autophagy flux and autophagic degradation of multiple viral proteins and that ATG10S could also act as a novel transcription factor to promote IFNL1 gene expression. This article is devoted to the event‐triggered practical tracking control for a class of high‐order nonlinear systems with serious uncertainties. Remarkably, the serious uncertainties are greatly reflected from the unknown control directions and input powers which give rise to essential obstacles in control design and hence lead to incapability of the traditional control methods on this topic. To solve the control problem, a novel switching event‐triggered control scheme is proposed by a skillful incorporation of logic‐based switching mechanism into the event‐triggered one. Specifically, two pivotal events are smartly chosen to give the event‐triggered mechanism for the determination of the sampling times. In particular, one of the events is used to give the switching varying mechanism, by which the controller parameters are respectively switched in two groups of sequences which are carefully chosen for the compensation of serious uncertainties. Under the proposed switching event‐triggered mechanism, a state‐feedback controller is designed which guarantees that all the signals of the closed‐loop system are bounded while system output practically tracks the reference signal, along with a finite number of switching of controller parameters as well as the exclusion of the Zeno phenomenon. Zymomonas mobilis is a gram-negative facultative anaerobic spore, which is generally recognized as a safe. As a promising ethanologenic organism for large-scale bio-ethanol production, Z. mobilis has also shown a good application prospect in food processing and food additive synthesis for its unique physiological characteristics and excellent industrial characteristics. It not only has obvious advantages in food processing and becomes the biorefinery chassis cell for food additives, but also has a certain healthcare effect on human health. Until to now, most of the research is still in theory and laboratory scale, and further research is also needed to achieve industrial production. This review summarized the physiological characteristics and advantages of Z. mobilis in food industry for the first time and further expounds its research status in food industry from three aspects of food additive synthesis, fermentation applications, and prebiotic efficacy, it will provide a theoretical basis for its development and applications in food industry. This review also discussed the shortcomings of its practical applications in the current food industry, and explored other ways to broaden the applications of Z. mobilis in the food industry, to promote its applications in food processing. Potential applications of Zymomonas mobilis in food industry summarized for the first time. Research status of Z. mobilis in food additive synthesis, fermentation applications, and probiotics are discussed in details. During electro‐osmotic consolidation, effective voltage attenuation induced by the increasing interface resistance is an important phenomenon, which significantly decreases consolidation effectiveness. This paper presents an analytical model for one‐dimensional electro‐osmotic consolidation in layered soils with horizontal graphite electrodes considering effective voltage attenuation. The mathematical model is characterized by time‐dependent source term and discontinuous interface flux. New variables are introduced to homogenize the discontinuous interface flux and Green’s function method is used to solve the new nonhomogeneous governing equations with nonhomogeneous boundaries. Several verification examples are conducted using the existing analytical solution and numerical results. Parametric studies indicate that electro‐osmotic consolidation of layered soils cannot be accurately simulated by equivalent homogeneous soil, whether effective voltage attenuation is considered or not. Furthermore, the backflow phenomenon may occur due to effective voltage attenuation, while it may disappear when the anode is placed in the low‐permeability layer. In addition, the optimal arrangement of electrodes in layered soils is also investigated. When the ratio of the thickness of low‐permeability layer to high‐permeability layer is about 1/3, installing the cathode in the low‐permeability layer can improve the electro‐osmosis effect up to two times, compared with installing the anode in the low‐permeability layer. This study is intended to expose the connectedness of green financing and other green policies like renewable energy and technological progress towards identifying the best practice to achieve climate goal cum sustainable environmental development for China within the period 1985–2021. Amid the increased utilization of fossil fuels in China's economic activities and its position as the highest carbon emitting country in the world, China is considered a financial stable economy with access to renewable energy source such as hydroelectric power. For effective research into the objective of this study, the study builds on mechanism of the green finance—renewable—technology and emission nexus with the help of linear dynamics of ARDL bound and VECM granger causality methods. Empirical results from both approaches have given insight to the selected objectives of this study. According to ARDL dynamics: (i) the coefficients of linear (1.802) and non-linear(− 1.860) (i.e. square term) of financial development are positively and negatively connected to the carbon emissions. This confirms the presence of inverted U-shape relationship between the financial development and carbon emissions. (ii) the relationship between hydroelectric power representing renewable energy and CO2 is negative—(− 0.19) and significant at 1% level. This results depicts the reduction power of hydroelectric power on CO2, (iii) also, a negative (− 0.000982) linkage between number of patent application representing technological innovation and environmental development through carbon emissions responses is established. Also, findings from VECM granger causality approach back the findings from ARDL through a nexus between the variables of interest (finance, hydroelectric power, and technology and carbon emissions). Congenital heart disease (CHD) refers to congenital structural abnormalities of the heart, including defects in the myocardial wall, valves, and major blood vessels. While genetic factors such as mutations and aberrant gene expression during embryogenesis contribute to CHD, they only account for part of cases. There are more and more studies on epigenetic histone modifications in CHD, suggesting that they are increasingly important in the pathogenesis of CHD. With the development of mass spectrometry-based proteomics technology, a spectrum of novel histone post-translational modifications, such as succinylation, glycosylation, lactylation, and β-hydroxybutyrylation, have been uncovered to contribute to various diseases. However, it remains unclear how these novel modifications regulate gene expression and pathological processes during the development and progression of CHD. This article will delve into the mechanisms of various histone modifications that regulate genes associated with cardiac development. It will approach the topic from both the perspective of classic histone modifications and novel histone modifications, aiming to unveil the significance of histone-driven epigenetic mechanisms in the etiology of CHD. Neural tube defects (NTDs) are common, severe, and complicated congenital malformations that are the result of the interaction and interplay of genetic, nutritional, and environmental factors. Maternal periconceptional folic acid (FA) supplementation is a significantly effective strategy for primary prevention of a proportion of NTDs. However, there still exists a portion of NTD cases that are intrinsically resistant to FA therapies, which are widely referred to as “FA-non-responsive NTDs” or “FA-resistant NTDs” . These diseases have a complex etiology, involving genetic, nutritional, environmental and maternal factors. This review integrates the genetic, nutritional, environmental and maternal risk factors associated with FA non-responsive NTDs and reveals the progress of research on their pathogenic mechanisms. Among them, the genetic factors cover three aspects: mouse mutants and strains, FA one-carbon metabolism genes, and key apoptosis genes, which provide possible genetic testing loci for prenatal diagnosis of these children. Nutritional factors concentrate on the roles of inositol and methionine, delineating their possible mechanisms of action and suggesting new directions for early nutritional interventions in NTDs management. In addition, this paper explores the possible mechanisms by which vitamin B12, a cofactor in the FA one-carbon metabolism, in FA-non-responsive NTDs development. We posit that a combination of FA and other vitamins may enhance treatment strategies for these malformations. At last, this paper also reviews the influence of environmental and maternal factors on FA non-responsive NTDs, aiming to provide health recommendations for early pregnancy for at-risk populations. In summary, this article reviews and evaluates research advancement concerning FA non-responsive NTD risk factors and pathogenesis, providing novel insights into the current prevention and treatment of this disease and related birth defects. Hypospadias, characterized by abnormal position of the urethral opening, is the second most common congenital anomaly in men. Its incidence is increasing year by year, and it has become the fourth largest birth defect disease in China. Not only does it bring both physical and psychological distress to the patients, but its surgical repair and long-term postoperative management also occupy a large amount of social economic and medical resources. Hypospadias can be isolated or present as a manifestation of some syndrome. At present, there are a variety of methods used to define and evaluate hypospadias, and it is imperative to develop a uniform classification standard to standardize care and surgical methods. In humans, the normal development of the penis structure has experienced an early androgen-independent stage and a late androgen-dependent sexual differentiation stage. In addition to genetic changes, endocrine or external environmental influences can cause damage or loss of the basic elements of penile development, which can induce hypospadias. Therefore, the disease is the result of genetic, endocrine and environmental factors and their interaction, with genetic factors generally considered to be more important than others. Based on different population cohorts, this paper elucidates the causes of hypospadias from the perspective of classical genetic variation, involving gene polymorphism, single nucleotide polymorphism and copy number variation of genes in normal biological processes such as growth differentiation of reproductive nodules, gonadal development and testis differentiation, androgen and estrogen production, etc. Moreover, the candidate genes related to human hypospadias are summarized. Currently, the main solution for braking systems for underground electric trackless rubber-tired vehicles (UETRVs) is traditional hydraulic braking systems, which have the disadvantages of hydraulic pressure crawling, the risk of oil leakage and a high maintenance cost. An electro-mechanical-braking (EMB) system, as a type of novel brake-by-wire (BBW) system, can eliminate the above shortcomings and play a significant role in enhancing the intelligence level of the braking system in order to meet the motion control requirements of unmanned UETRVs. Among these requirements, the accurate control of clamping force is a key technology in controlling performance and the practical implementation of EMB systems. In order to achieve an adaptive clamping force control performance of an EMB system, an optimized fuzzy proportional-integral-differential (PID) controller is proposed, where the improved fuzzy algorithm is utilized to adaptively adjust the gain parameters of classic PID. In order to compensate for the deficiency of single-close-loop control and adjusting the brake gap automatically, a cascaded three-closed-loop control architecture with force/position switch technology is established, where a contact point detection method utilizing motor rotor angle displacement is proposed via experiments. The results of the simulation and experiments indicate that the clamping force response of the proposed multi-close-loop Variable Universe Fuzzy–PID (VUF-PID) controller is faster than the multi-closed-loop Fuzzy–PID and cascaded three-close-loop PID controllers. In addition, the chattering of braking force can be suppressed by 17%. Migrant workers from rural China often leave their children at home to be raised by grandparents or other family members. This study explored the relationship between parents' educational expectations, parental involvement, and the academic performance of left-behind children in China. A total of 19,487 student samples were obtained from the China Education Panel Survey (CEPS), and 5078 of these met the criteria for being considered as 'left behind' children. Results indicated: (1) a significant positive correlation between parents' educational expectations and left-behind children's academic achievement; (2) parental education involvement plays a partial mediating role between parents' educational expectations and left-behind children's academic performance; (3) a significant negative correlation between parental intellectual involvement and educational expectations of left-behind children; (4) parental management involvement was not significantly correlated with parents' educational expectations and left-behind children's academic performance; and (5) a significant positive correlation between parental emotional involvement and educational expectations of left-behind children. Due to the widespread use of intensive cropping patterns, the problem of continuous cropping obstacle, which is dominated by autotoxicity, has been becoming more and more prominent. Although many methods have been proposed to overcome the continuous cropping obstacle of cucumber, no study has reported the screening and evaluation of cucumber germplasm resistant to autotoxicity. In this study, 28 physiological indices related to the cucumber bud stage under cinnamic acid (CA) treatment were determined. In total, 45 cucumber cultivars were classified into three groups using principal component analysis and cluster analysis, and a model for evaluating cucumber resistance to autotoxicity was developed. The evaluation model was validated using autotoxicity-tolerant and non-autotoxicity-tolerant cultivars. The results showed that the growth of non-autotoxicity-tolerant cultivars was significantly inhibited compared to autotoxicity-tolerant cultivars. This indicated that the evaluation model of cucumber autotoxicity tolerance is reliable. The results of this study provide a valuable reference for the application of cucumber autotoxicity-tolerant germplasm resources and the development of autotoxicity-tolerant genes. Due to the coexistence of Al3+ and RE3+ and their similar properties, the separation of aluminum from rare earths is difficult. In this study, selective precipitation was used to separate aluminum from rare earth chloride solution via electrochemical regulated hydrolysis. By controlling the current density and electrolytic time, the rate of hydroxyl ion production was regulated, and the selective separation of rare earth and aluminum was realized according to the different precipitation sequences. By altering the temperature, current density, pH value, and other parameters, the separation performance of aluminum from rare earth in mixed rare earth chloride systems was systematically investigated. The removal rate of aluminum reached 88.35%, and the loss rate of rare earth was only 5.99% under optimized conditions. Compared with traditional neutralization hydrolysis, the new process showed higher efficiency and lower rare earth loss rate. Furthermore, a kinetic analysis of aluminum precipitation revealed that the reaction adhered to pseudo-first order kinetics. Additionally, the precipitate obtained via separation and filtration was amorphous alumina hydroxide with a small amount of rare earth attached. No reagent was consumed for the new process, which was more efficient and cleaner, providing a new idea for removing aluminum impurities from rare earth solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Statistical epistasis, or "gene–gene interaction" in genetic association studies, means the nonadditive effects between the polymorphic sites on two different genes affecting the same phenotype. In the genetic association analysis of complex traits, nevertheless, the researchers haven't found enough clues of statistical epistasis so far. Methods: We developed a statistical model where the statistical epistasis was presented as an extra linkage disequilibrium between the polymorphic sites of different risk genes. The power of statistical test for identifying the gene–gene interaction was calculated and then compared in different hypothesis scenarios. Results: Our results show the statistical power increases with the increasing of interaction coefficient, relative risk, and linkage disequilibrium with genetic markers. However, the power of interaction discovery is much lower than that of regular single-site association test. When rigorous criteria were employed in statistical tests, the identification of gene–gene interaction became a very difficult task. Since the criterion of significance was given to be p-value ≤ 5.0 × 10–8, the same as that of many genome-wide association studies, there is little chance to identify the gene–gene interaction in all kind of circumstances. Conclusions: The lack of epistasis tends to be an inevitable result caused by the statistical principles of methods in the genetic association studies and therefore is the inherent characteristic of the research itself. cis‐Linked cyclotetraphenylene dimer [2]c‐CTPE and trimer [3]c‐CTPE were synthesized via Pt‐mediated cyclization of cis‐diboronated tetraphenylethene. The structure of [2]c‐CTPE has been confirmed by single crystal X‐ray diffraction. The strain energy of [2]c‐CTPE and [3]c‐CTPE was calculated to be 86.28 ⋅ kJ mol−1 and 9.23 kJ ⋅ mol−1, respectively. Bladder cancer (BC) is the ninth most-common cancer worldwide and it is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Mitochondrial Dysfunction is involved in the progression of BC. This study aimed to developed a novel diagnostic model based on mitochondria-related genes (MRGs) for BC patients using Machine Learning. In this study, we analyzed GSE13507 datasets and identified 752 DE-MRGs in BC specimens. Functional enrichment analysis uncovered the significant roles of 752 DE-MRGs in key processes such as cellular and organ development, as well as gene regulation. The analysis revealed the crucial functions of these genes in transcriptional regulation and protein-DNA interactions. Then, we performed LASSO and SVM-RFE, and identified four critical diagnostic genes including GLRX2, NMT1, OXSM and TRAF3IP3. Based on the above four genes, we developed a novel diagnostic model whose diagnostic value was confirmed in GSE13507, GSE3167 and GSE37816 datasets. Moreover, we reported the expressing pattern of GLRX2, NMT1, OXSM and TRAF3IP3 in BC samples. Immune cell infiltration analysis revealed that the four genes were associated with several immune cells. Finally, we performed RT-PCR and confirmed NMT1 was highly expressed in BC cells. Functional experiments revealed that knockdown of NMT1 suppressed the proliferation of BC cells. Overall, we have formulated a diagnostic potential that offered a comprehensive framework for delving into the underlying mechanisms of BC. Through an analysis of the existing research status, the study identifies prevalent issues within the AI-ECS integration, emphasizing pivotal factors influencing the construction of a robust social ECS system. To address these concerns, the study puts forth specific and viable policy recommendations. Notably, the questionnaire's statistics underscore that 83% of the elderly populace would opt for AI-driven solutions in selecting intelligent products, thereby underscoring the pivotal role of AI within the social ECS system. This paper describes the use of wireless smart sensors for examining the underlying mechanism for the wind-induced vibration of high-mast illumination pole (HMIP) structures. HMIPs are tall, slender structures with low inherent damping. Video recordings of multiple HMIPs showed considerable vibrations of these HMIPs under wind loading in the state of Kansas. The HMIPs experienced cyclic large-amplitude displacements at the top, which can produce high-stress demand and lead to fatigue cracking at the bottom of the pole. In this study, the natural frequencies of the HMIP were assessed using pluck tests and finite element modeling, and the recorded vibration frequencies were obtained through computer vision-based video analysis. Meanwhile, a 30.48 m tall HMIP with three LED luminaires made of galvanized steel located in Wakeeney, Kansas, was selected for long-term vibration monitoring using wireless smart sensors to investigate the underlying mechanism for the excessive wind-induced vibrations. Data analysis with the long-term monitoring data indicates that while vortex-induced vibration occurs frequently at relatively low amplitude, buffeting-induced vibration was the leading cause of the excessive vibrations of the monitored HMIP. Antagonist peptides (ANTs) of vasoactive intestinal polypeptide receptors (VIP-Rs) are shown to enhance T cell activation and proliferation in vitro, as well as improving T cell-dependent anti-tumor response in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) murine models. However, peptide therapeutics often suffer from poor metabolic stability and exhibit a short half-life/fast elimination in vivo. In this study, we describe efforts to enhance the drug properties of ANTs via chemical modifications. The lead antagonist (ANT308) is derivatized with the following modifications: N-terminus acetylation, peptide stapling, and PEGylation. Acetylated ANT308 exhibits diminished T cell activation in vitro, indicating that N-terminus conservation is critical for antagonist activity. The replacement of residues 13 and 17 with cysteine to accommodate a chemical staple results in diminished survival using the modified peptide to treat mice with AML. However, the incorporation of the constraint increases survival and reduces tumor burden relative to its unstapled counterpart. Notably, PEGylation has a significant positive effect, with fewer doses of PEGylated ANT308 needed to achieve comparable overall survival and tumor burden in leukemic mice dosed with the parenteral ANT308 peptide, suggesting that polyethylene glycol (PEG) incorporation enhances longevity, and thus the antagonist activity of ANT308. AbstractThe enhancing effect of two-component ceramic tile back side adhesives (BSAs) with the change of polymer type, sand ratio, and cement ratio on the tensile bond strength of cementitious tile adhesives (CTAs) under four curing conditions was investigated. Through optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation, the functioning mechanism of BSA was also investigated. The results show that two-component BSA overwhelms one-component BSA in improving the tensile bond strength of CTAs to tiles. Polymer type plays a key role in achieving high performance BSA, where styrene-acrylate ester (SAE) copolymer is more preferred than styrene-butadiene (SB) copolymer. Both sand and cement additions help promote tensile bond strength under certain curing conditions. Their effectiveness and efficiency show a strong correlation with the choice of polymer type. Through using two-component SAE-based BSA with the right combination of cement and sand ratio, it is possible to strengthen a low-quality adhesive mortar into one with around 1.0 MPa or above tensile bond strength under different curing conditions. In this study, the double-layered thermo-expandable microcapsules with n-hexane as the core and styrene maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA) / polyurea (PUA) as the shell materials are prepared by combination of interfacial polymerization and co-precipitation method. The successful encapsulation of n-hexane in the PUA microcapsules is confirmed by simultaneous thermal analyzer (TG-IR). The properties of the thermo-expandable microcapsules (TEMs) are investigated by thermo-gravimetric analyzer (TGA), laser particle size analyzer, optical microscope and thermo-mechanical analyzer (TMA), respectively. The results show that polyurea shows a good encapsulation effect on n-hexane. When the dosage of n-hexane is 60 wt%, the microcapsules with polyurea as the shell have the encapsulation efficiency as high as 96.7%. However, the thermo-expandable performance of PUA-TEMs is poor. Double-layered thermo-expandable microcapsules with SMA/PUA as the shell (SMA/PUA-TEMs) are then obtained by introducing SMA copolymer as a second layer to enhance the thermo-expandable performance of the microcapsules. The introduction of styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer onto the PUA-TEMs reduces the encapsulation amount of n-hexane in the microcapsules, but the thermo-expandable performance is significantly improved. When the mass ratio of SMA to PUA-TEMs is 2:1, the SMA/PUA-TEMs with the encapsulation efficiency of n-hexane of 41.1% and the particle size of about 2.5 μm are obtained. SMA/PUA-TEMs show onset and peak expansion temperatures of 195 and 216 °C, respectively, and the expansion ratio of 2.4 time. The tentative investigation of the foaming performance of the SMA/PUA thermo-expandable microcapsules in polyvinyl butyral matrix shows that the thermo-expandable microcapsules can be well dispersed in the polymer matrix and have good expandable performance. This study provides a novel kind of thermo-expandable microcapsules with high onset and peak expansion temperatures which are beneficial to produce plastic foam with high Tg or Tm. Transplantation of brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a promising approach for treating obesity and metabolic disorders. However, obtaining sufficient amounts of functional BAT or brown adipocytes for transplantation remains a major challenge. In this study, we developed a hydrogel that combining adipose acellular matrix (AAM) and GelMA and HAMA that can be adjusted for stiffness by modulating the duration of light‐crosslinking. We used human white adipose tissue‐derived microvascular fragments to create beige adipose organoids (BAO) that were encapsulated in either a soft or stiff AAM hydrogel. We found that BAOs cultivated in AAM hydrogels with high stiffness demonstrated increased metabolic activity and upregulation of thermogenesis‐related genes. When transplanted into obese and type 2 diabetes mice, the HFD + BAO group showed sustained improvements in metabolic rate, resulting in significant weight loss and decreased blood glucose levels. Furthermore, the mice showed a marked reduction in nonalcoholic liver steatosis, indicating improved liver function. In contrast, transplantation of 2D‐cultured beige adipocytes failed to produce these beneficial effects. Our findings demonstrate the feasibility of fabricating beige adipose organoids in vitro and administering them by injection, which may represent a promising therapeutic approach for obesity and diabetes. In order to ensure the safety of life and property in large buildings, the design of emergency evacuation routes for large buildings based on cloud computing and GIS big data is studied. Combining cloud computing and GIS big data, a command model for emergency evacuation of large buildings is built. Emergency evacuation functions are realized through the access layer, business logic layer, cloud computing layer and data layer. GIS big data of large buildings is stored in the model data layer. GIS geographic data is clustered through the MapReduce based parallel K-means clustering algorithm in the cloud computing layer. After clustering, the emergency evacuation road network of large buildings is constructed through GIS in the business logic layer. On the road network, the emergency evacuation route selection method combining Dikstra algorithm and ant colony algorithm is used to realize the optimal route selection of emergency evacuation of large buildings. Experiments show that this method can effectively select the best evacuation path in large buildings, and the evacuation speed of the selected path is fast, which can ensure the safety of people in buildings. It is urgent for automated electric transportation vehicles in coal mines to have the ability of self-adaptive tracking target constant deceleration to ensure stable and safe braking effects in long underground roadways. However, the current braking control system of underground electric trackless rubber-tired vehicles (UETRVs) still adopts multi-level constant braking torque control, which cannot achieve target deceleration closed-loop control. To overcome the disadvantages of lower safety and comfort, and the non-precise stopping distance, this article describes the architecture and working principle of constant deceleration braking systems with an electro-mechanical braking actuator. Then, a deceleration closed-loop control algorithm based on fuzzy neural network PID is proposed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink. Finally, an actual brake control unit (BCU) is built and tested in a real industrial field setting. The test illustrates the feasibility of this constant deceleration control algorithm, which can achieve constant decelerations within a very short time and maintain a constant value of − 2.5   m / s 2 within a deviation of ± 0.1   m / s 2 , compared with the deviation of 0.11   m / s 2 of fuzzy PID and the deviation of 0.13   m / s 2 of classic PID. This BCU can provide electric and automated mine vehicles with active and smooth deceleration performance, which improves the level of electrification and automation for mine transport machinery. The study of manipulator physical limits is a very important direction in the field of robotics. Most traditional approaches to addressing physical limits are typically within the framework of optimization, treating physical limits as constraints to be addressed. However, this approach has a limitation in that it may not be real-time responsive. In order to improve real-time performance, latest study in literature formulated physical limits and tracking task as different-layer time-varying problems. This approach effectively enhances real-time performance via obtaining calculated control variables in advance. Nevertheless, this study only considers joint angle limits, without taking into account the higher-layer joint velocity limits. This work conquers physical limits at angle and velocity layers simultaneously by a three-layer time-varying system. Two different ways are used to solve the system based on different-layer equivalency technique, and two differential equations are obtained. The equations are discretized by using a discretization formula, and then two discrete models are proposed. The robot tracking control conquers physical limits at angle and velocity layers simultaneously by using discrete models. Theoretical convergence of the discrete models is demonstrated. Wave energy, as a significant renewable and clean energy source with vast global reserves, exhibits no greenhouse gas or other pollution during real-sea operational conditions. However, throughout the entire lifecycle, wave energy convertors can produce additional CO2 emissions due to the use of raw materials and emissions during transportation. Based on laboratory test data from a wave energy convertor model, this study ensures consistency between the model and the actual sea-deployed wave energy convertors in terms of performance, materials, and geometric shapes using similarity criteria. Carbon emission factors from China, the European Union, Brazil, and Japan are selected to predict the carbon emissions of wave energy convertors in real-sea conditions. The research indicates: (1) The predicted carbon emission coefficient for unit electricity generation ( E F co 2 ) of wave energy is 0.008–0.057 kg CO2/kWh; when the traditional steel production mode is adopted, the E F co 2 in this paper is 0.014–0.059 kg CO2/kWh, similar to existing research conclusions for the emission factor of CO2 for wave energy convertor (0.012–0.050 kg CO2/kWh). The predicted data on carbon emissions in the lifecycle of wave energy convertors aligns closely with actual operational data. (2) The main source of carbon emissions in the life cycle of a wave energy converter, excluding the recycling of manufacturing metal materials, is the manufacturing stage, which accounts for 90% of the total carbon emissions. When the recycling of manufacturing metal materials is considered, the carbon emissions in the manufacturing stage are reduced, and the carbon emissions in the transport stage are increased, from about 7% to about 20%. (3) Under the most ideal conditions, the carbon payback period for a wave energy convertor ranges from 0.28 to 2.06 years, and the carbon reduction during the design lifespan (20 years) varies from 238.33 t CO2 (minimum) to 261.80 t CO2 (maximum). Distributed leadership has been shown to improve teacher job satisfaction and reduce teacher job stress. However, few studies have thoroughly explored the indirect effects of distributed leadership on increasing the teachers' burden in school administration and management, thereby increasing work stress, and decreasing job satisfaction. Data from the Teaching and Learning International Survey were analyzed to investigate the relationships among distributed school leadership, teachers' job stress, and job satisfaction. A total of 3976 teachers from 198 junior high schools in Shanghai, 2560 teachers from 166 junior high schools in the United States, 2376 teachers from 157 junior high schools in England, and 3573 teachers from 238 junior high schools in Australia were selected and examined using structural equation modeling. The results revealed that distributed school leadership directly predicted teachers' job satisfaction; teachers' job stress had an independent mediating effect on distributed leadership and teachers' job satisfaction, whereas teachers' time spent participating in school leadership had no mediating effect. Patients hospitalized after a moderate or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) are at increased risk of nosocomial infections, including bacterial pneumonia and other upper respiratory tract infections. Infections represent a secondary immune challenge for vulnerable TBI patients that can lead to increased morbidity and poorer long-term prognosis. This review first describes the clinical significance of infections after TBI, delving into the known mechanisms by which a TBI can alter systemic immunological responses towards an immunosuppressive state, leading to promotion of increased vulnerability to infections. Pulmonary dysfunction resulting from respiratory tract infections is considered in the context of neurotrauma, including the bidirectional relationship between the brain and lungs. Turning to pre-clinical modeling, current laboratory approaches to study experimental TBI and lung infections are reviewed, to highlight findings from the limited key studies to date that have incorporated both insults. Then, practical decisions for the experimental design of animal studies of post-injury infections are discussed. Variables associated with the host animal, the infectious agent (e.g., species, strain, dose, and administration route), as well as the timing of the infection relative to the injury model are important considerations for model development. Together, the purpose of this review is to highlight the significant clinical need for increased pre-clinical research into the two-hit insult of a hospital-acquired infection after TBI to encourage further scientific enquiry in the field. The pore water can usually flow through the horizontal electrodes, resulting in the top sand layer and the bottom unelectroosmotic layer inevitably affecting the consolidation process of the electroosmotic layer. However, the traditional assumption of the fully drained or undrained electrode boundaries is unable to reflect these boundary effects. In this study, one‐dimensional analytical models for electroosmotic consolidation of the layered soil systems considering the boundary effects of horizontal electrodes are proposed. The solutions for the models are derived using the separate variable method and Laplace transform method. The rationality of the one‐dimensional model is also illustrated by comparing it with the results produced by the two‐dimensional model and the accuracies of the solutions are verified through a series of analytical and numerical validation examples. Parametric studies are conducted to investigate the effects of the sand layer and the unelectroosmotic layer on the consolidation process. Results show that both the sand layer and the unelectroosmotic layer may significantly delay the consolidation progress. The time factor corresponding to 90% average degree of consolidation (Tv_90%U*) can increase by over 1.5 times in comparison with the model without a sand layer when the permeability coefficient ratio of the subsoil to the upper layer reaches 10. The delayed effect is particularly pronounced when the thickness of the unelectroosmotic layer with higher compressibility is relatively larger, potentially resulting in a tenfold or even greater increase in Tv_90%U*. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) appear to be the crucial modulators in various processes and critically influence the oncogenesis. As one of the LncRNAs, LncRNA CCAT1 has been reported to be closely associated with the progression multiple cancers, but its role in modulating the radioresistance of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains unclear. In our present study, we screened the potential radioresistance related LncRNAs in LUAD based on the data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Data suggested that CCAT1 was abundantly expressed in LUAD and CCAT1 was significantly associated with poor prognosis and radioresistance. Moreover, our in vitro experiments showed that radiation treatment could trigger elevated expression of CCAT1 in the human LUAD cell lines. Further loss/gain-of-function investigations indicated that CCAT1 knockdown significantly inhibited cell proliferation, migration and promoted cell apoptosis in NCI-H1299 cells under irradiation, whereas CCAT1 overexpression in A549 cells yield the opposite effects. This work aimed to study the role and mechanism of SIRT5 regulation of ferroptosis in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. A model of middle cerebral artery occlusion in rats was prepared using the method of thread occlusion. The ferroptosis inhibitor was injected intraperitoneally while the SIRT5 interfering lentivirus were injected into the brain, and neurological disorders were scored in the rats. TTC staining was used to detect infarct volume, and immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of SIRT5 in tissues. Rat hippocampal neuronal cells H19-7 were transduced with SIRT5 interfering lentivirus and ferroptosis was induced using erastin. The CCK8 detection kit was used to detect cell viability. Commercial kits were used to detect levels of iron ions, ROS, MDA, SOD, and inflammatory factor (TNF-α and IL-6) in brain tissue or cell supernatant. Western blot was used to detect the expression changes of ferroptosis related proteins GPX4, Nrf2, and HO-1 in tissues or cells. Compared with the sham group, the MCAO model group showed higher levels of neurological impairment score, increased cerebral infarction volume, iron ions, inflammatory factors, and oxidative stress levels in rats. Compared with the MCAO group, the MCAO + fer-1 group exhibited lower levels of neurological impairment scores, cerebral infarction volume, decreased iron ions, inflammatory factors, and oxidative stress levels in rats. Meanwhile, compared with the MCAO + DMSO/LV-shRNA group, the MCAO + fer-1/LV-shSIRT5 group showed a significant decrease in neurological impairment scores, cerebral infarction volume, iron ions, inflammatory factors, and oxidative stress levels in rats. In vitro experiments have found that LV-shSIRT5 can prevent erastin-induced cell ferroptosis. NiO/Ga2O3 heterojunction rectifiers were exposed to 1 Mrad fluences of Co-60 γ-rays either with or without reverse biases. While there is a small component of Compton electrons (600 keV), generated via the interaction of 1.17 and 1.33 MeV gamma photons with the semiconductor, which in turn can lead to displacement damage, most of the energy is lost to ionization. The effect of the exposure to radiation is a 1000× reduction in forward current and a 100× increase in reverse current in the rectifiers, which is independent of whether the devices were biased during this step. The on–off ratio is also reduced by almost five orders of magnitude. There is a slight reduction in carrier concentration in the Ga2O3 drift region, with an effective carrier removal rate of <4 cm−1. The changes in electrical characteristics are reversible by application of short forward current pulses during repeated measurement of the current–voltage characteristics at room temperature. There are no permanent total ionizing dose effects present in the rectifiers to 1 Mad fluences, which along with their resistance to displacement damage effects indicate that these devices may be well-suited to harsh terrestrial and space radiation applications if appropriate bias sequences are implemented to reverse the radiation-induced changes. Photocatalysis is considered as an environmentally friendly and sustainable method as it can produce active species to degrade pollutants. However, its applications are hindered by the turbidity of pollutants and the requirements for continuous or repeated in situ irradiation. To avoid the need for continuous in situ irradiation in the photocatalytic process, herein we report the doping of Cu(II) ions into zinc gallate (ZnGa 2 O 4) as traps to capture photo-generated electrons. In this way, long lifetime charge release and separation were effectively achieved for the persistent degradation of organic dyes in wastewater. The Cu(II) doped ZnGa 2 O 4 (ZGC) nanoparticles with a small size about 7.7 nm synthesized via a hydrothermal method exhibited a persistent photocatalytic activity with continuous production of reactive oxygen species for at least 96 h without in situ irradiation due to its unique electronic structure and carrier transport path, and enabled to degrade 82.2 % of rhodamine B in 1 h. Further investigation revealed that the doped Cu(II) ions occupied the octahedral sites of ZGC and highly increased the persistent production and availability of active species for the persistent degradation of organic dyes under pre-illuminated conditions. In this paper, we present the coupled physics-informed neural networks (CPINNs) for solving the two phase magnetohydrodynamic flows which is governed by Cahn–Hilliard equation and MHD equations. Central to this method is coupling multi-feedforward neural networks to solve variables in parallel. Specifically, CPINNs embed the model into the loss function of the neural networks and train neural networks to obtain the optimal parameters, among which the resulting networks satisfy differential operators, initial and boundary conditions. Based on the idea of small sample learning (SSL), we utilize few sample data during the training process, which can alleviate the calculated costs and avoid grid generation. Additionally, we rigorously demonstrate the existence and convergence of the resulting neural networks. Finally, the theoretical results are verified via several numerical experiments. Rainfall can cause seepage erosion of the fine particles in soil (FPS) within the wide grading of particles present in a deposit slope, reducing its strength and eventually leading to a landslide. Unfortunately, there is no effective method for simulating this phenomenon; therefore, using the finite-element method (FEM), the whole process for establishing the slope stability analysis method is described considering the effect of the erosion of FPS, which includes equations of the FPS erosion process, introducing the real seepage parameters obtained by large-scale soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) tests, and establishing correlations among water content, fine particle content, and slope strength. The findings of the application of this method to a real project reveal that FPS erosion occurs most readily on the first and second levels of a subslope, causing shallow instability of the slope and a reduction in the slope factor of safety (FOS); however, the higher the rainfall intensity, the lower the slope FOS. The band alignments of two candidate dielectrics for ScAlN, namely, SiO2 and Al2O2, were obtained by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. We compared the effect of deposition method on the valence band offsets of both sputtered and atomic layer deposition films of SiO2 and Al2O3 on Sc0.27Al0.73 N (bandgap 5.1 eV) films. The band alignments are type I (straddled gap) for SiO2 and type II (staggered gap) for Al2O3. The deposition methods make a large difference in relative valence band offsets, in the range 0.4–0.5 eV for both SiO2 and Al2O3. The absolute valence band offsets were 2.1 or 2.6 eV for SiO2 and 1.5 or 1.9 eV for Al2O3 on ScAlN. Conduction band offsets derived from these valence band offsets, and the measured bandgaps were then in the range 1.0–1.1 eV for SiO2 and 0.30–0.70 eV for Al2O3. These latter differences can be partially ascribed to changes in bandgap for the case of SiO2 deposited by the two different methods, but not for Al2O3, where the bandgap as independent of deposition method. Background: The role of upfront cytoreductive nephrectomy remains debatable in the present era of tyrosine kinase inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors. Here, we aimed to evaluate the outcomes of metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients treated with upfront CN and modern systemic therapies. Methods: Using the TriNetX network database, we identified patients, in the period from 2008 to 2022, who were diagnosed with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, receiving first-line systemic therapies with tyrosine kinase inhibitors or immune checkpoint inhibitors. Their overall survivals were evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier method as well as multivariable regressions. Results: We identified 11,094 patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. Of them, 2,914 (43%) patients in the tyrosine kinase inhibitor cohort (n = 6,779), and 1,884 (43.7%) in the immune checkpoint inhibitors cohort (n = 4315) underwent upfront cytoreductive nephrectomy. Those receiving upfront cytoreductive nephrectomy showed survival advantages with either tyrosine kinase inhibitor (Hazard ratio 0.722, 95% Confidence interval 0.67–0.73, p<0.001) or immune checkpoint inhibitors (Hazard ratio 65.1, 95% Confidence interval 0.59–0.71, p<0.001). In multivariable analysis, upfront cytoreductive nephrectomy was a factor for improved OS in both cohorts: tyrosine kinase inhibitors (Hazard ratio 0.623, 95% Confidence interval 0.56–0.694, p<0.001) and immune checkpoint inhibitors cohort (Hazard ratio 0.688, 95% Confidence interval 0.607–0.779, p<0.001). Conclusions: Upfront cytoreductive nephrectomy was associated with an improved overall survival for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma receiving either first-line tyrosine kinase inhibitors or immune checkpoint inhibitors. It is well‐known that the finite‐time and the fixed‐time control can ensure the finite‐time and the fixed‐time stabilities of systems, respectively. Therein the finite convergence time depends on both the initial conditions of systems and the controller design parameters, and the fixed convergence time only depends on the controller design parameters. The recently reported predefined‐time control removes the above limitations. Nevertheless, the existing predefined‐time control methods either require sliding modes, or suffer from the high‐gain control problem at the predefined time, or cannot be applied to high‐order systems. This article develops an alternative predefined‐time tracking control scheme of a class of nonlinear systems by introducing a novel C∞$$ {C}^{\infty } $$ performance function which reaches its terminal value at a predefined time. The developed predefined‐time tracking control scheme has higher compatibility, does not cause the high‐gain control problem at the predefined time and is applicable to arbitrary order systems.
