A recent study conducted by researchers at Baptist Health South Florida examined the outcomes of professional athletes in contact sports who underwent arthroscopic management for rotator cuff tears. The study found that the majority of athletes (80%) were able to return to play at the same level after surgery, with a mean return time of 9.5 months. The study also noted that postoperative imaging showed a high rate of healed repairs (88%). However, two athletes with large full-thickness tears did not return to play.
