Abstract

Summary The equilibrium constants of the protonated and ionized forms of 5-nitro-8-hydroxyquinoline have been determined in aqueous solutions at 25° C by means of solubility, distribution and spectrophotometric methods. The thermodynamic constants of 5-nitro-8-hydroxyquinoline, obtained from the spectrophotometric method, arepK1= 2.597±0.008 andpK2=6.422±0.009.
