The article offers information on the biocontrol agent resistance risk in Heterobasidion. A study conducted by researchers from Sweden concluded that there is theoretical risk for resistance build-up to Phlebiopsis or Rotstop on Heterobasidion. Heterobasidion annosum senso lato is the Northern Hemisphere's most important forestry pathogen, which caused severe rot on coniferous trees in boreal and temperate forests. Heterobasidion grows down and out from the roots of an infected tree to infect adjacent healthy trees. Heterobasidion can be achieved using the wood-decaying fungus Phlebiopsis gigantea.
