Healthcare is a sector where a good planning is in need to optimize the use of healthcare equipments. The demand for hospital beds can vary due to certain reasons such as sudden outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, spread of seasonal diseases and many more. Therefore, it is very important to focus upon hospital bed management, and it is much dependent on patient length of stay. In this paper, we have done an exploratory data analysis, time series analysis on a publicly available dataset of 32 countries and some predictions about hospital beds, patient length of stay has been made with the help of Machine learning techniques. When the performance of models was compared in terms of R2 score, Random Forest regressor outperformed. The outcome of this study can help healthcare managers to improve hospital services and plan the resources efficiently.

The analysis of outage performance in a Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) based network is conducted for a hybrid model that combines an IRS with a decode-forward relay. The use of an IRS-assisted relay network is particularly significant in environments with deep fading. The outage performance of each user in different ordered NOMA configurations has been evaluated, taking into account different numbers of IRS elements. The optimal number of users that can be accommodated by a source using NOMA for a specific threshold has been identified. The required number of active reflecting elements has been estimated to achieve a target SINR for a given order of NOMA. Additionally, a closed-form expression and its asymptotic expressions have also been derived for the outage probability of all users. The analytical results have been validated via Monte Carlo simulations.

Secure transmission of images over a communication channel, with limited data transfer capacity, possesses compression and encryption schemes. A deep learning based hybrid image compression-encryption scheme is proposed by combining stacked auto-encoder with the logistic map. The proposed structure of stacked autoencoder has seven multiple layers, and back propagation algorithm is intended to extend vector portrayal of information into lower vector space. The randomly generated key is used to set initial conditions and control parameters of logistic map. Subsequently, compressed image is encrypted by substituting and scrambling of pixel sequences using key stream sequences generated from logistic map. The proposed algorithms are experimentally tested over five standard grayscale images. Compression and encryption efficiency of proposed algorithms are evaluated and analyzed based on peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), mean square error (MSE), structural similarity index metrics (SSIM) and statistical, differential, entropy analysis respectively. Simulation results show that proposed algorithms provide high quality reconstructed images with excellent levels of security during transmission.

During adolescent, due to growth spurt anemia appears to be more for both sexes and risk is high in girls due to onset of menstruation and may continue later during their reproductive life. In the perspective study, one hundred ten adolescent girls between ages 13 -16 years of low socio-economic group of district Kurukshetra (Haryana) were screened out for their hemoglobin level and for nutritional as well as socio-economic status. Data regarding socio-economic status was collected through pre-structured questionnaire cum interview method. Nutritional status was adjudged by their anthropometric measurements (height, weight and BMI) and nutrient intake. Dietary intake of selected subjects was adjudged by 24 hour recall method for three consecutive days and intake of nutrients from the diet was calculated with help of nutritive value of Indian foods. Hemoglobin level of each subject was measured by using Sahil's technique. Out of one hundred ten girls, more than two third (81.81 per cent) girls were suffering from various degree of anemia as their Hb level ranges between 6.6 g/dl to 11.0 g/dl. The dietary data revealed that nutrient intake especially iron intake was very much less than as recommended by ICMR for adolescent girls. Due to low dietary intake, their weight was found less and the subjects were in energy deficit state. Analysis of data further disclosed that prevalence of anemia was directly related to family size and type of family as that affect quality and quantity of food consumption. Adolescent nutritional problem are common throughout the country. Some people lack adequate food while some people though have adequate amount of food yet make its poor choices. Because of these reasons, nutritional problems not only affect their growth and development but also in future would adversely affect their livelihood as adults. Occurrence of series of nutritional problems like underutrition, anemia, vitamin A deficiency, iodine deficiency and overweight or obesity may develop too in them. For prevention of these problems, WHO has emphasized that the mass information and awareness programmes should be organized to alert government and communities about the importance of health and nutrition. In view to this recommendation, a study was carried out to assess the nutritional awareness of 50 school going adolescent girls of 13-16 years age in rural area of district Kurukshetra before and after imparting nutrition education regarding healthy nutrition and dietary habits. To them, the nutrition education was imparted through lectures, audiovisual aids and demonstrations for three months. Before and after imparting nutrition education, the level of knowledge, attitude, beliefs and practices regarding good nutrition was adjudged by questionnaire cum interview method. To see the awareness level, scoring system consisting of scores between--1 to +1 depending on each question was developed. After providing nutrition education, a significant improvement in their nutritional knowledge was viewed and quantum of improvement was 1.67 times. The analysis of data also inferred that the students scoring more marks in science subject were found more attentive during the counseling sessions and had showed a rapid improvement in their score. The study was successful in identifying certain gaps in their knowledge, attitude and practices before imparting nutrition education and concluded that such awareness programmes should be organized. The Retro-2 molecule protects cells against Shiga toxins by specifically blocking retrograde transport from early endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. A SAR study has been carried out to identify more potent compounds. Cyclization and modifications of Retro-2 led to a compound with roughly 100-fold improvement of the EC50against Shiga toxin cytotoxicity measured in a cell protein synthesis assay. We also demonstrated that only one enantiomer of the dihydroquinazolinone reported herein is bioactive.

Software modularization is complex but crucial to the software design process. The complexity in software modularization arises due to inter-dependencies among its constituting elements. A good software structure performs certain enhancement, and makes maintenance work easier for developers that consequently saves development and testing effort cycles. Software failures due to poor design and structure have motivated exhaustive research in this field. This encouraged the formulation of software modularization clustering problem (SMCP) as a search problem with an aim to identify the possible best module clustering solution that can optimize cohesion and coupling. With the inception of search-based software engineering, many optimization problems have been successfully addressed with meta-heuristics. Differential evolution (DE), a popular algorithm, is stable, versatile, robust with few control parameters and considered as an effective meta-heuristic for solving optimization problems. This paper introduces a novel formulation of DE as differential evolution software module clustering (DESMC) to identify optimal clustering solution for any software. It is guided by fitness based on modularization quality factors. The proposed formulation redefines classical concepts of donor vector, trial vector, and mutation operator for DESMC to adapt the discrete nature of SMCP. The performance of DESMC is evaluated on a set of test problems identified from literature and open source. Further, the results are compared against other three rivalry approaches, namely hill climbing, genetic algorithm, and particle swarm optimization. The observation shows that DESMC outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods.

AbstractNutritional problem of adolescent girls are common throughout the country. They encounter a series of serious nutritional challenges not only affecting their growth and development but also their livelihood as adults. Furthermore nutritional status of girls has important implication in terms of physical work capacity and adverse reproductive outcome. Therefore, the present investigation was undertaken to study the supplementation impact of iron and folic acid capsule with and without thandaion anemic adolescent girls. Thandaiwas prepared by grinding germinated groundnut seeds with jaggery and black pepper. Fifty-four anaemic girls (age, 15-18 yr) were selected and divided randomly into three groups; A , B and C. Each group contained 18 girls. Thandaialong with Cofol-Z capsule (iron + folic) given to the subjects of group A whereas to the subjects of B group, only Cofol-Z capsule was given . The subjects of group C served as control. Supplementation was continued for six weeks. Questionnaire regarding general information was filled up. Hb content was measured at 0, 3rdand 6thweek of supplementation. One way ANOVA was used for testing the variation among all groups by using computer software (SPSS-Version 8.0). All the subjects exhibited varied symptoms of anaemia. On supplementation, significant (p<0.05) improvement was found in mean Hb value of was three times higher in subjects of experimental group A (21.20%) than subjects of experimental group B (6.87 %). Thus iron and folic acid supplementation with thandaiproved to be more efficacious in combating the problem of anaemia during adolescence.

Recent biochemical evidence indicates that an early event in signal transduction by the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) is its translocation to specialized membrane subdomains known as lipid rafts. We have taken a microscopic approach to image lipid rafts and early events associated with BCR signal transduction. Lipid rafts were visualized on primary splenic B lymphocytes from wild-type or anti-hen egg lysozyme BCR transgenic mice, and on a mature mouse B-cell line Bal 17 by using fluorescent conjugates of cholera toxin B subunit or a Lyn-based chimeric protein, which targets green fluorescent protein to the lipid raft compartment. Time-lapse imaging of B cells stimulated via the BCR with the antigen hen egg lysozyme, or surrogate for antigen anti-IgM, demonstrated that lipid rafts are highly dynamic entities, which move laterally on the surface of these cells and coalesce into large regions. These regions of aggregated lipid rafts colocalized with the BCR and tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins. Microscopic imaging of live B cells also revealed an inducible colocalization of lipid rafts with the tyrosine kinase Syk and the receptor tyrosine phosphatase CD45. These two proteins play indispensable roles in BCR-mediated signaling but are not detectable in biochemically purified lipid raft fractions. Strikingly, BCR stimulation also induced the formation of long, thread-like filopodial projections, similar to previously described structures called cytonemes. These B-cell cytonemes are rich in lipid rafts and actin filaments, suggesting that they might play a role in long-range communication and/or transportation of signaling molecules during an immune response. These results provide a window into the morphological and molecular organization of the B-cell membrane during the early phase of BCR signaling.

Time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) is solved numerically to calculate the ground- and first three excited-state energies, expectation values 〈x2j〉, j=1, 2 …, 6, and probability densities of quantum mechanical multiple-well oscillators. An imaginary-time evolution technique, coupled with the minimization of energy expectation value to reach a global minimum, subject to orthogonality constraint (for excited states) has been employed. Pseudodegeneracy in symmetric, deep multiple-well potentials, probability densities and the effect of an asymmetry parameter on pseudodegeneracy are discussed.

Coligation of FcγRIIb1 with the B cell receptor (BCR) or FcεRI on mast cells inhibits B cell or mast cell activation. Activity of the inositol phosphatase SHIP is required for this negative signal. In vitro, SHIP catalyzes the conversion of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) product phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3) into phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate. Recent data demonstrate that coligation of FcγRIIb1 with BCR inhibits PIP3-dependent Btk (Bruton's tyrosine kinase) activation and the Btk-dependent generation of inositol trisphosphate that regulates sustained calcium influx. In this study, we provide evidence that coligation of FcγRIIb1 with BCR induces binding of PI3K to SHIP. This interaction is mediated by the binding of the SH2 domains of the p85 subunit of PI3K to a tyrosine-based motif in the C-terminal region of SHIP. Furthermore, the generation of phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate was only partially reduced during coligation of BCR with FcγRIIb1 despite a drastic reduction in PIP3. In contrast to the complete inhibition of Tec kinase-dependent calcium signaling, activation of the serine/threonine kinase Akt was partially preserved during BCR and FcγRIIb1 coligation. The association of PI3K with SHIP may serve to activate PI3K and to regulate downstream events such as B cell activation-induced apoptosis.

Inhibition of natural killer (NK) cells by the killer cell inhibitory receptor (KIR) involves recruitment of the tyrosine phosphatase SHP-1 by KIR and is prevented by expression of a dominant negative SHP-1 mutant. Another inhibitory receptor, the low affinity Fc receptor for immunoglobulin G (IgG) (FcγRIIb1), has been shown to bind SHP-1 when cocross-linked with the antigen receptor on B cells (BCR). However, coligation of FcγRIIb1 with BCR and with FcεRI on mast cells leads to recruitment of the inositol 5′ phosphatase SHIP and to inhibition of mast cells from SHP-1–deficient mice. In this study, we evaluated the ability of these two inhibitory receptors to block target cell lysis by NK cells, and the contribution of SHP-1 and SHIP to inhibition. Recombinant vaccinia viruses encoding chimeric receptors and dominant negative mutants of SHP-1 and SHIP were used for expression in mouse and human NK cells. When the KIR cytoplasmic tail was replaced by that of FcγRIIb1, recognition of HLA class I on target cells by the extracellular domain resulted in inhibition. A dominant negative mutant of SHP-1 reverted the inhibition mediated by the KIR cytoplasmic tail but not that mediated by FcγRIIb1. In contrast, a dominant negative mutant of SHIP reverted only the inhibition mediated by the FcγRIIb1 tail, providing functional evidence that SHIP plays a role in the FcγRIIb1-mediated negative signal. These data demonstrate that inhibition of NK cells by KIR involves primarily the tyrosine phosphatase SHP-1, whereas inhibition mediated by FcγRIIb1 requires the inositol phosphatase SHIP.

Background:Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. While 60% of DLBCL patients achieve complete remission with frontline therapy, relapsed/refractory (R/R) DLBCL patients have a poor prognosis with median overall survival below one year, necessitating investigation into the biological principles that distinguish cured from R/R DLBCL. Recent analyses have identified unfavorable molecular signatures when accounting for gene expression, copy number alterations and mutational profiles in R/R DLBCL. However, an integrative analysis of the relationship between epigenetic and transcriptomic changes has yet to be described. In this study, we compared baseline methylation and gene expression profiles of DLBCL patients with dichotomized clinical outcomes.

The object of this paper is to establish the existence and uniqueness of coupled fixed points under a (φ, ψ)-contractive condition for mixed monotone operators in the setup of partially ordered metric spaces. Presented work generalizes the recent results of Berinde (2011, 2012) and weakens the contractive conditions involved in the well-known results of Bhaskar and Lakshmikantham (2006), and Luong and Thuan (2011). The effectiveness of our work is validated with the help of a suitable example. As an application, we give a result of existence and uniqueness for the solutions of a class of nonlinear integral equations.
