Abstract Following the paper entitled A Preliminary Proposal on Crustobody Geotectonicspresented by the first author to the 30th IGC in 1996, this paper further extends and elucidates the concept of crustobody in order to make a unifying study of the evolution and motion of crustal structures and to understand the law governing the formation and development of the earth' crust. In this paper the characteristics of crustobody evolution‐motion are given. The authors lay emphasis on the relationship between crustobody evolution‐motion and tectonic metallogeny. In the end, a multiple dynamic system of the crustobody evolution‐motion is discussed from internal and external dynamic forces, and the mantle creep in internal dynamic factors is paid special attention to.

The Fen-Wei rift system, 1200 km long and 10–100 km wide, is situated in the northern part of East China, following a zigzag path trending NNE-SSW. It cuts the Shanxi-Shaanxi Plateau (average altitude 2 km) reaching depths of 5–6 km, and is filled with Cenozoic sediments (thickness 3–4 km). Accompanying the mainly vertical displacement of the marginal fault zones, the rift system extends laterally up to 7 km (greatest in the southern part).

Les caracteristiques géotectoniques de la Chine sont analysées d'après la carte tectonique de la Chine (1977) compilée suivant la théorie diwa de l'auteur ("diwa" étant un terme chinois pour "géodepression"). Vingt unités tectoniques sont distinguées et brievement discutées. L'histoire du développement de la croûte est discutée d'après les charactéristiques géotectoniques de la Chine, et un model dynamique de l'évolution crustale est proposé.

There are five major tectonic systems in China: The arc system, the E-W, N-S, NE- and NW-systems. This paper focuses on the N-S and the E-W systems and the role which they play in the control of mineralization.
