Abstract

•Dicationic ionic liquids (DILs) were studied in the cycloaddition of CO2to epoxides.•Some of the bromide DILs were partially soluble in model epichlorohydrin.•Solubility issues were overcome by adding 20 mol% of epichlorohydrin carbonate.•Bromide DILs displayed a pseudo-first order kinetic.
