We find this evolution to be directed towards an increasing focus on core competencies of the network. Further we analyse the network resulting from R&D cooperations and explain - by means of network regression techniques - that the job mobility of scientists and the technological overlap between the actors, rather than past cooperations, can best predict the resulting structure. Safety is an important task in chemical plants and plays a significant role throughout the whole design process. To ensure the safety and environmental demands and to minimise later plant changes, safety analyses are already performed in early design phases. Due to still manifold drawbacks of applied methods e.g. Hazop-studies, computer-based approaches are subject to research. This contribution introduces a new qualitative, model-based approach to process hazard identification by simulation and reachability examinations of dangerous plant states.

Although much research has been undertaken in the field of confessionalization, still little is known about the connections between the religious and ecclesiastical dismemberment and the emergence of an early modern power system and, especially, of a professional diplomatic corps. The main obstacle in the study of this link is the lack of biographical information about many of the "diplomats." However, by examining the professors and students of the Collegium Mauritianum in Hesse-Kassel during the reign of Landgrave Maurice (1592-1627), it can be demonstrated how the prince managed to create and to educate an elite both willing and able to serve his state beyond its territorial borders. Because many refugees taught and studied as students at the Collegium, this institution was open to the influence of international Calvinism and made a crucial impact on the course of the landgrave's foreign policies in the developing power system of early modern Europe.
