As I wrote my column for last year's Pride Issue, I reflected on the growing attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, from anti-trans legislation to attempts to ban books by and about [...]

The article focuses on enhancing school climate and culture through empathetic leadership and active engagement. Topics include the importance of building a caring school environment, using surveys to assess school climate, and specific leadership behaviors such as being visible in the school, engaging with students, and fostering open communication.

The currently dominant view concerning humor ethics is punching up/punching down. According to this view, members of one community with less social capital are allowed to make jokes at the expense of another with more social capital as a means of achieving social justice, while those in a community with more social capital are forbidden from making jokes about those with less. The latter is considered an act of bullying, which further entrenches pre-existing social injustice. While there is value in the moral intuitions that underlay this view, it falls prey to several problems. A new approach, the joke capital approach, is introduced which has the virtue of accounting for the cases in which punching up/punching down is effective but also is capable of handling the problematic cases.

HIV treatment has been available in Mozambique since 2004, but coverage of, and retention in, antiretroviral therapy (ART) remain suboptimal. Therefore, to increase health system efficiency and reduce HIV-associated mortality, in November, 2018, the Ministry of Health launched national guidelines on implementing eight differentiated service delivery models (DSDMs) for HIV treatment. Graphical AbstractThis cost-effectiveness analysis was based on the data of the POPular AGE trial, in which clopidogrel was compared to ticagrelor in patients of 70 years or older with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). The analysis showed that clopidogrel is a cost-saving alternative to ticagrelor in this population, though regarding overall cost-effectiveness clopidogrel was not superior to ticagrelor, as it resulted in a small negative effect on Qualtiy Adjusted Life Years (QALYs). However, based on the results of the alternative base case and clinical outcomes of the POPular AGE trial, clopidogrel could be a reasonable alternative to ticagrelor for elderly NSTE-ACS patients with a higher bleeding risk.
