Uterine transplantation is the solution to treat absolute uterine fertility. In this review, we present the historical, medical, technical, psychological and ethical perspectives in human uterine transplantation research. We reviewed the PubMed database following PRISMA guidelines and added data presented by several research teams during the first international congress on uterine transplantation.

•The COVID-19 pandemic was the cause of a significant decrease (65%) of surgical activity during the first French lockdown.•It was difficult to reschedule procedures, which resulted in delay of patients in semi-urgent operations beyond the interval recommended by guidelines and potential medical risk for approximately 10% of postponed surgeries.

•Quality of methodologies of guidelines in urinary incontinence in women is quite different from one society to another.•The recommendations of urinary incontinence in women are quite consistent and their differences are mainly ones of grade.•Common sense over evidence-based medicine, publication chronology, semantics of grade and discrepancies of grades can explain grade differences in guidelines.
