To study the preventative effects of massage on gastric volvulus (GV) in infants with gastroesophageal reflux (GER)-induced pneumonia.

MP/PBS composite was fabricated by melt blending method. The weight loss ratio of MP/PBS composite reached 35.43 wt.% after immersion into phosphate buffered saline solution for 12 weeks, and the pH change from 7.40 to 7.72. The relative proliferation rate of cells on the materials increased with time and the proliferation of the cells on the MP/PBS composite was significantly higher than PBS. The results reveal MP/PBS composite has good biocompatibility, which satisfied the relevant criterion on biomaterials.

Nano agnesium phosphate (n-MP) was synthesized using a chemical precipitation method. The results revealed that the synthesized n-MP with the mean particle size of 79 nm and could be degradable in PBS solution with the weight loss was 70.4w% after soaking for 60 days. The extracts of n-MP caused no cytotoxicity on L929 cells, revealing good biocompatibility, which satisfied the relevant criterion on biomaterials.

Our previous studies have shown that Ginkgo biloba extract increased endothelial progenitor-cell (EPC) numbers and functional activity. However, the mechanisms remain to be determined. Recent studies have demonstrated that increased EPC numbers and activity were associated with the inhibition of EPC senescence, which involved activation of telomerase. Therefore, we investigated whether Ginkgo biloba extract inhibited the onset of EPC senescence through telomerase activation, leading to potentiation of cellular activity. After ex vivo cultivation, EPCs became senescent as determined by acidic ß-galactosidase staining. Ginkgo biloba extract dose-dependently prevented the onset of EPC senescence in culture. Moreover, Ginkgo biloba extract increased proliferation of EPCs as assessed by MTT assay and colony-forming capacity. To get further insights into the underlying mechanisms of these effects, we measured telomerase activity and determined the phosphorylation of Akt by Western blotting. Ginkgo biloba extract significantly increased telomerase activity and phosphorylation of the serine/threonine protein kinase Akt, a downstream effector of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K). Moreover, pretreatment with PI3K inhibitor, LY294002, significantly attenuated the Ginkgo biloba extract-induced telomerase activity. Taken together, the results indicated that Ginkgo biloba extract delayed the onset of EPC senescence, which may be related to activation of telomerase through the PI3k/Akt signaling pathway. The inhibition of EPC senescence by Ginkgo biloba extract in vitro may improve the functional activity of EPCs in a way that is important for potential cell therapy.

Because of the lack of anatomical landmarks during reduction of multiple articular surfaces and fragments in comminuted patellar fractures, loss of bone fragments or aggravation of soft tissue and ligament injuries readily occurs. In the present case, we used multiple three-dimensional (3D)-printed guide plates to reduce and fix a comminuted patellar fracture. A 22-year-old man was hospitalized for 2 days because of left knee joint pain and limited movement caused by a traffic accident. Preoperative imaging revealed a comminuted fracture of the left patella (type 34-C3 according to the AO/OTA classification). Throughout a 2-year follow-up, the patient remained in generally good condition with no significant limitation of his left knee joint activity. Application of multiple 3D-printed guide plates is a safe and effective auxiliary technique for the treatment of comminuted patellar fractures. This novel technique can shorten the operation time, reduce the number of fluoroscopic procedures, and ensure fracture healing and recovery of knee joint function through reliable reduction of the articular surface.

We investigate the role of coarsened measurement reference, which originates from the coarsened reference time and basis, in quantum metrology. When the measurement is based on one common reference basis, the disadvantage of coarsened measurement can be removed by symmetry. Owing to the coarsened reference basis, the entangled state cannot perform better than the product state for a large number of probe particles in estimating the phase. Given a finite uncertainty of the coarsened reference basis, the optimal number of probe particles is obtained. Finally, we prove that the maximally entangled state always achieves better frequency precision in the case of non-Markovian dephasing than that in the case of Markovian dephasing.
