Abstract: The forward problem in DOT can be modeled in a frequency domain as a diffusion equation with Robin boundary conditions. In case of multilayered geometries the forward problem can be treated as a set of coupled equations. In this paper we present the solution for diffuse light propagation in a four-layer spherical model using Boundary Element Method. Additionally, we compare overlapping with non-overlapping Domain Decomposition Methods applied to this problem to improve its efficiency. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
