- Abstract
The results of the study of the positions of experts, analysts, practitioners and researchers in relation to the prospects of green energy in the concept of sustainable development general and in the field of transport in particular are presented. The perspectives of global decarbonization by 2050, early implementation of pilot projects for the development of green energy sources, large-scale transition to the use of alternative energy sources, and active creation of smart cities are highlighted as ambiguous positions. The following are highlighted as counterarguments: differentiation of financial capabilities in relation to the development and use of green energy technologies; unforeseen factors hindering the implementation of planned projects; local interests and potential opportunities for the transition to alternative energy sources; consumer readiness for new technologies. A conclusion was made about the duality of views on the position of increasing the quality of life of citizens of this generation without detriment to future generations. The complexity of the adoption of alternative energy by real consumers is indicated. The problem of labor force withdrawal is highlighted. It has been proven that achieving the goal of decarbonization within a limited time frame should be considered with greater caution.
