Motor cortex stimulation is a well-known treatment modality for refractory neuropathic pain. Nevertheless, some cases of therapeutic failure have been described but alternative therapies for these cases are rarely reported.

The development of sensing elements based on the behavior of magnetostrictive delay line (MDL) has long been known in research and technical development for the past decade. In this paper we present a new MDL arrangement in which magnetostrictive material is used only at the excitation and receiving regions.

La dialyse péritonéale ambulatoire continue (DPAC) est une technique de suppléance rénale, permettant au patient un maintien à domicile de manière autonome ou assistée. Cette technique est en pleine expansion. Cependant, l’instillation de liquide dans la cavité péritonéale peut entraîner des complications mécaniques, telles qu’une hernie ou une fuite de liquide dans la cavité pleurale dont le diagnostic doit être établi, car impliquant l’arrêt définitif ou transitoire de la technique. Nous rapportons le cas de 3 patients dont le diagnostic de complication mécanique de la DPAC a pu être établi avec certitude grâce à la scintigraphie péritonéale.

In this paper we present some results of a study of the influence of the magnetic bias field (applied parallel to the anisotropy axis) and of thermal treatments performed at temperatures 200–350°C, on the longitudinal sound velocity in Fe77.5Si7.5B15magnetic amorphous wires. Considerable improvements in the magnetoelastic properties of the wires were observed by increasing the annealing temperature above 300°C.
