Graphical abstract: This review discusses the state-of-the-art of composite polymer electrolytes for sodium-ion batteries and their future perspectives.

Herein for the first time, intertwined nanocomposite (Co3O4@Se NPs/MWCNTs) of cobalt oxide nanoparticles (Co3O4 NPs) adsorbed on selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) (designated as Co3O4@Se NPs) and thiol (–SH) functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method to achieve excellent capacitive and microbicidal performance. The surface morphology, microstructure and functional group studies ensures that the existence of Co3O4@Se NPs onto MWCNTs. The electrochemical studies (cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD)) were performed and demonstrated the Supercapacitive performance of Co3O4@Se NPs/MWCNTs nanocomposite. Higher electrochemical capacitance (356 F/g) with better coulombic efficiency of 84% was acquired. Also, it exhibited an admirable antimicrobial study and illustrated that the pathogens were more susceptible to Co3O4@Se NPs/MWCNTs nanocomposite. The superior electrochemical and antimicrobial activity was achieved owing to the specific inherent properties of thiol (–SH) groups opt binding and stabilizing Co3O4@Se NPs against its aggregation on the surface of MWCNTs. The thiol (–SH) group influences the enrichment of Co3O4@Se NPs onto MWCNTs and facilitates in enhancement of energy storage and microbicidal performance the nanocomposite. These attained outcomes put forward the applicability of the synthesized active nanocomposite towards supercapacitor and antibacterial agents against pathogens.

This article details the fabrication of conductive Pt@PDMA/AC nanocomposite via layer by layer electrochemical deposition process on a flexible current collector for highly effective flexible supercapacitor. The unique nanostructure and crystallinity were characterized by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction. These suggested electrodes make the most of their incredible electrical conductivity, mechanical strength, electrochemical stability, and adherence to a flexible current collector. They also exhibit great capacitive performance and exceptional cycle life. The Pt@ PDMA/AC electrode has contributed to a good specific capacitance of 348.48 F/g at current density 1 A/g. Further, the nanocomposite shows remarkable stability where 95 % of its capacity retained after 3000 cycles at 10 A/g. due to synergetic effects. The final nanocomposite contributes to a maximum energy density of 108.9 Whkg−1at the power density of 2840.86 Wkg−1at 1 A/g current density. The resulting nanocomposite is a strong contender for energy storage and flexible electronic devices due to its outstanding electrochemical characteristics and great cycle stability.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus species with a zoonotic origin and responsible for the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). This novel virus has an extremely high infectious rate, which occurs through the contact of contaminated surfaces and also by cough, sneeze, hand-to-mouth-to-eye contact with an affected person. The progression of infection, which goes beyond complications of pneumonia to affecting other physiological functions which cause gastrointestinal, Renal, and neurological complication makes this a life threatening condition. Intense efforts are going across the scientific community in elucidating various aspects of this virus, such as understanding the pathophysiology of the disease, molecular biology, and cellular pathways of viral replication. We hope that nanotechnology and material science can provide a significant contribution to tackle this problem through both diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. But the area is still in the budding phase, which needs urgent and significant attention. This review provides a brief idea regarding the various nanotechnological approaches reported for managing COVID-19 infection. The nanomaterials recently said to have good antiviral activities like Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and quantum dots (QDs) were also discussed since they are also in the emerging stage of attaining research interest regarding antiviral applications.
