Security and privacy in cloud systems are critical. To address security and privacy concerns, many security patterns, privacy patterns, and non-pattern-based knowledge have been reported. However, knowing which pattern or combination of patterns to use in a specific scenario is challenging due to the sheer volume of options and the layered cloud stack. To deal with security and privacy in cloud services, this study proposes the cloud security and privacy metamodel (CSPM). CSPM uses a consistent approach to classify and handle existing security and privacy patterns. In addition, CSPM is used to develop a security and privacy awareness process to develop cloud systems. The effectiveness and practicality of CSPM is demonstrated via several case studies.

Graphs, also known as networks, are an expressive data representation used in many domains. Numerous algorithms have been designed to find interesting patterns in graphs. However, they have at least one of two major drawbacks. First, most algorithms focus on finding complex subgraphs but ignore relationships between attributes. But attributes play a major role in several real-life applications such as for profile completion in social networks. Second, the user must generally set multiple parameters that greatly influence results but are unintuitive to set. To provide a solution to these issues, this paper introduces a novel algorithm named CSPM (Compressing Star Pattern Miner) for discovering compressing patterns in an attributed graph. The algorithm is parameter-free and discovers star-shaped attribute patterns that reveal strong relationships between attribute values by utilizing the concept of conditional entropy and the minimum description length principle. Extensive experiments on real data show that CSPM is efficient and can find insightful patterns. In particular, it is observed that the discovered patterns can boost the accuracy of state-of-the-art graph attribute completion models on social network databy up to 15.39%. Moreover, it is found that CSPM can uncover many interesting patterns describing alarm correlations in data from a large-scale industrial telecommunication network. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The solution of heat transfer problems for functional graded materials (FGMs) by smoothed particle hydrodynamics, in which the thermal conductivity is a function of the spatial coordinates and the temperature, is discussed for both steady and non-steady problems under various boundary conditions. The boundary is treated using the corrective smoothed particle method to heighten the accuracy. Several calculations are performed to test the validity of the formulation. As an example of practical application, the problem of FGM cylindrical plates subjected to thermal shock is calculated, in which the thermal conductivity is temperature dependent and the heat transfer coefficient is varied in radial direction.

In this paper, we developed a meshless framework that couples peridynamics (PD) and the corrective smoothed particle method (CSPM) to simulate the complex damage and fracturing process of structures. This framework retains the advantages of PD in simulating material failure, and solves the problem that PD cannot simulate structures with irregular grids, and it also reduces the interface effect. Furthermore, the coupled PD-CSPM overcomes the challenge that stress boundary cannot be directly applied on CSPM-based models. In addition, PD-CSPM is capable of eliminating the limitation of Poisson's ratio imposed by the bond-based PD method. By simulating the deformation and failure behaviors of structures, the performance of PD-CSPM is verified and validated by the experimental observation and the numerical results obtained using other methods (the classic finite element method (FEM), extended finite element method (XFEM), and phase field method). Due to providing greater degrees-of-freedom (DOFs) and securer communication guarantees than traditional scalar array, polarized massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique offers a prospective insight into millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication. In this paper, a compressed two-dimensional (2D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) and polarization estimation algorithm combining the compressive sampling propagator method with reduced-dimension multiple signal classification (CSPM-RDMUSIC) is developed for mmWave polarized massive MIMO systems. First, a synchronous compressive network is constructed to compress the high-dimensional output into a low-dimensional one. Thereafter, a propagator is structured to acquire the signal subspace. Subsequently, accurate 2D-DOA and polarization estimation are achieved using a coarse-refined strategy, where the vector cross-product technology is investigated for coarse 2D-DOA estimation and then RDMUSIC is exploited to perform 2D local search for accurate parameter estimation. Owing to integrating the CSPM framework with the RDMUSIC strategy, the developed approach provides high-precision parameter estimation with relative computational economy, supporting mmWave communication demands. What's more, it's suitable for arbitrary array geometry with high flexibility. Departments of Pediatric Physical Therapy, Epidemiology, Medical Genetics, Pediatric Orthopedics, Collagen and Vascular Research, University [...], PURPOSE: To describe the clinical features and problems in collagen synthesis of a new clinical entity, which we propose to call the 'benign joint hypomobility syndrome.' SUBJECTS: Eight children (six boys, two girls; age 5-15 years) with generalized hypomobility of the joints in the absence of signs of rheumatic, neurologic, skeletal or metabolic diseases are included. METHODS AND MATERIALS: Range of joint motion, anthropological measurements, muscle strength and motor performance were measured. Collagen degradation products (Hyp, LP, HP) were measured in urine and compared with urines of 91 healthy children. Collagen modifications were determined in skin, hypertrophic scar tissue and in joint capsule of one patient and compared with a reference group of 10 healthy persons. ANALYSIS: Urinary data were compared with urine samples from age-related healthy children (Mann-Whitney U test). RESULTS: No consistent pattern of dysmorphic features was noticed and no known syndromes could be traced. Most children were habitual toe-walkers and this was seen in male family members as well. Exercise-induced pain occurred in the calf muscles. Generalized hypomobility of the joints was present and muscle strength, age of independent walking, anthropometrical characteristics and motor development were normal. Increased levels of pyridinoline cross-links were seen in skin and hypertrophic scar, increased amounts of collagen levels in the skin. In urine, the median amounts of collagen degradation products were: 90 µmol/mmol (range: 54 to 130) in patients and 143 µmol/mmol (range: 20 to 1060) in healthy controls for Hyp (p=0.025) 192 µmol/mmol (range: 154-248) in patients, 385 µmol/mmol (range 26-2434) in controls for the combined amount of HP and LP (p=0.007). CONCLUSIONS: Otherwise healthy children with generalized hypomobility may be characterized by changes in collagen metabolism. We propose to call the described new clinical entity the 'benign joint hypomobility syndrome.'

This article explores enhancing spoke-type flux-intensifying permanent magnet (SFI-PM) motor performance by strategically placing flux barriers (FBs) in the asymmetric rotor. Integrating multi-FBs into the conventional spoke-type PM (CSPM) rotor topology elevates the d-axis inductance ( $L_{d} \gt L_{q}$ ), intensifying flux density and improving output torque while posing challenges like increased cogging torque, torque ripple, and harmonic distortion. An asymmetric rotor design is proposed to mitigate these issues by strategically placing a higher number of FBs along the forward direction (FD) of the spoke magnet axis (q-axis). Analysis reveals that this configuration reduces torque ripple and enhances output torque. A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is applied to optimize this asymmetric design considering mechanical constraints. The analyses are validated by manufacturing and testing a 5-kW asymmetric SFI-PM machine with a higher number of FBs along the FD of the spoke magnet axis.

In this paper, an optical single-channel asymmetric cryptosystem based on the inverse discrete wavelet transform (IDWT) and chaotic standard map for multi-image in cyan-magenta-yellow-black (CMYK) mode is proposed. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the color image in CMYK format is encoded into a real-valued two-dimensional (2D) format by the IDWT; thus, our scheme can be implemented in a single-channel step. In addition, we propose to generate the random phase mask based on the chaotic standard map. Due to the large key space and high efficiency of the chaotic standard map, the security level of the proposed scheme can be improved. The chaotic standard map is employed to generate the chaotic standard phase mask (CSPM). Then the encoded 2D image can be encrypted in the linear canonical transform domain based on the CSPM. Numerical simulation results are shown to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of our cryptosystem. In addition, our approach outperforms other relevant cryptosystems and can be extended to encrypt multiple color images directly.

A corrective smooth particle method (CSPM) within smooth particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is used to study the deformation of an aircraft structure under high-velocity water-ditching impact load. The CSPM-SPH method features a new approach for the prediction of two-way fluid–structure interaction coupling. Results indicate that the implementation is well suited for modeling the deformation of structures under high-velocity impact into water as evident from the predicted stress and strain localizations in the aircraft structure as well as the integrity of the impacted interfaces, which show no artificial particle penetrations. To reduce the simulation time, a heterogeneous particle size distribution over a complex three-dimensional geometry is used. The variable particle size is achieved from a finite element mesh with variable element size and, as a result, variable nodal (i.e., SPH particle) spacing. To further accelerate the simulations, the SPH code is ported to a graphics processing unit using the OpenACC standard. The implementation and simulation results are described and discussed in this paper.

To simulate contaminant transport in groundwater, this paper proposes a parallelized Lagrangian particle model using compute unified device architecture (CUDA) on graphics processing unit (GPU) based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method. The solved governing equation is the advection–diffusion equations (ADEs) with retardation factor for given typical flow fields. To solve the inherent particle inconsistency problem of traditional SPH method, the corrective smoothed particle method (CSPM) is applied. The speedup ratio of the parallelized SPH solver for ADEs is analyzed. The consistency and convergence of the proposed model are theoretically analyzed and numerically tested. The reduction of its computational cost and storage requirement is discussed. Numerical examples including one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) cases are simulated, and the results are compared with the analytical solutions and those obtained by the high-resolution monotonic upstream schemes for conservation laws (MUSCL) scheme. To further verify the practicality of the model, two engineering cases of contaminant transport through soil into groundwater are investigated. It is shown that the solutions of the developed model are in good agreement with measured data.

2-Methoxyestradiol (2ME), a natural metabolite of estradiol, has antiproliferative and antiangiogenic activity. However, its clinical success is limited due to poor water solubility and poor pharmacokinetic parameters suggesting the need for a delivery vehicle. In this study we evaluated cathepsin B degradable star-shaped peptidic macromolecules (SPMs) that can potentially be used to create higher generation and high molecular weight peptidic polymer as delivery vehicle of 2ME. Two peptidic macromolecules having positively charged amine (ASPM) or negatively charged carboxyl surface groups (CSPM) were synthesized and evaluated for their degradation in the presence of cathepsin B and stability in the presence of neutral or acidic buffer and serum. Both ASPM and CSPM degraded rapidly in the presence of cathepsin B. Both were stable in neutral and acidic buffer whereas only CSPM exhibited substantial stability in the presence of serum. Both macromolecules were nontoxic toward breast cancer cells whereas 2ME-containing macromolecules exhibited antiproliferative activity in the micromolar range. Overall, results from the current study indicate that tetrapeptide GFLG can be used to create star-shaped macromolecules that are degraded in the presence of cathepsin B and have the potential to be developed as delivery vehicles of 2ME.

Aluminum fumarate – porous alumina (AF/Al), synthesized by reactive seeding method, has been used for the first time as a host matrix for CaCl2-based composite sorbents (CSPM) for thermochemical heat storage (TCHS) applications. The porous matrix and composites containing varying amounts of CaCl2(20–60 wt%) were fully characterized by combining multiple techniques (N2adsorption/desorption isotherms, powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, elemental analysis). The storage performances of the studied materials have been investigated using thermogravimetry coupled to differential scanning calorimetry (TG/DSC) and a humidity generator. The results show that the hierarchical porous structure of AF/Al impacts the physico-chemical characteristics, water and heat storage performances and water sorption kinetics. The properties of AF/Al, presenting both micro and mesoporosity, as host matrix for CaCl2have been compared with those of microporous AF and mesoporous Al. It is evidenced that in AF/Al, the presence of micropores arising from the AF membrane enhances the storage capacity of Al by increasing the number of available sorption sites, while the textural mesoporosity of Al offers favorable conditions for water vapor diffusivity, which is crucial for optimal mass and heat transfer. CaCl2–AF/Al composites exhibit enhanced water and heat storage capacities compared to the matrix alone, their performances increasing with the salt content to attain 1930 kJ kg−1and 0.68 kgH2Okg−1for 61 wt% of salt. The hydration level at 25 °C and 30%RH did not exceed a maximum of 4.4 nH2O/nanhydrous material, limiting deliquescence and leaching of the salt. A comparative study of the impact of host matrix characteristics on CSPM properties highlights the predominant impact of the salt content on the storage capacity, as well as the influence of porosity on the water vapor sorption behavior.
