This article discusses the immense opportunities as well as significant risks presented by the advancements in artificial intelligence, comparing its impact to that of the industrial revolution. The authors from the One Hundred Year Study on AI recommend ten priorities, including investing in scientific foundations, ensuring safety and equity, devising regulations, combating disinformation, and fostering academia-industry collaboration. Emphasizing both short- and long-term impacts, they highlight the importance of international diplomacy, monitoring economic effects, understanding societal implications, and prioritizing the prevention of catastrophic outcomes to harness AI's benefits while mitigating its risks. These recommendations aim to spark and guide discussions and actions among the AI community and society at large.
