Then a control strategy is presented which could realize the ideal attitude maneuver of satellite while suppressing the structural vibration simultaneously. The proposed strategy is contained of two parts: the attitude controller is designed based on the computed torque method, and the vibration controller is achieved by using a piecewise cost function which could ensure the unidirectional and saturated constraints of cable actuators. Finally, numerical simulations of a large antenna satellite model demonstrate that the structural vibration during the attitude maneuver process can be suppressed effectively by applying the proposed control strategy. The development of the telescope with large aperture is driven by the increasing demand for higher imaging resolution and imaging area. The large membrane diffraction space telescope is particularly attractive due to their lightweight nature, ease of folding and unfolding, and high precision imaging capabilities. However, the flexible and large structure of these telescope makes them prone to long-time, low-frequency vibrations in space. These vibrations can degrade the imaging quality and potentially cause damage to the instrument in the space telescope. Therefore, it is crucial to develop effective active vibration control methods to suppress these structural vibrations. This paper proposes a control method that utilizes cables as actuators. Since cables can only withstand tension and have limited output tension, this constraint is taken into account during the control design process. Firstly, a dynamics model of the membrane diffraction space telescope with hinge flexibility is developed by the beam theory and finite element method. Next, an active controller is designed by combining H∞ control theory and Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI). Additionally, the optimal positions of cable actuators are determined using the Gram controllability criterion and a particle swarm algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the control method is verified through numerical simulations. The simulation results demonstrate that the hinge flexibility significantly influences the structural vibration behavior of the telescope. Furthermore, the proposed control method demonstrates the ability to effectively suppress the vibrations of the telescope while also exhibiting robustness to changes in natural frequencies of the structure. In this paper we address the control problem of aerial cable suspended load transportation, using multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). First, the dynamical model of the coupled system is obtained using the Newton–Euler formalism, for n UAVs transporting a load, where the cables are supposed to be rigid and mass-less. The control problem is stated as a trajectory tracking directly on the load. To do so, a hierarchical control scheme is proposed based on the attractive ellipsoid method, where a virtual controller is calculated for tracking the position of the load, with this, the desired position for each vehicle along with their desired cable tensions are estimated, and used to compute the virtual controller for the position of each vehicle. This results in an underdetermined system, where an infinite number of drones' configurations comply with the desired load position, thus additional constrains can be imposed to obtain a unique solution. Furthermore, this information is used to compute the attitude reference for the vehicles, which are feed to a quaternion based attitude control. The stability analysis, using an energy-like function, demonstrated the practical stability of the system, it is that all the error signals are attracted and contained in an invariant set. Hence, the proposed scheme assures that, given well posed initial conditions, the closed-loop system guarantees the trajectory tracking of the desired position on the load with bounded errors. The proposed control strategy is evaluated in numerical simulations for 3 and 4 agents following a smooth desired trajectory on the load, showing good performance. Motivated by vibration control of a mining cable elevator avoiding frequent actions of a massive actuator, which is a hydraulic cylinder driving a head sheave, we present an event-triggered output-feedback backstepping boundary controller for $2\times 2$ coupled hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) sandwiched by two ordinary differential equations (ODEs), through a two-step design including an output-feedback low-pass-filter-based backstepping boundary stabilization law and the subsequent design of a dynamic event-triggering mechanism. The existence of a minimal dwell-time between two triggering times, and exponential convergence in the event-based closed-loop system are proved in this article. Motivated by an engineering application in brake control of cable mining elevators, where the dynamics consist of a brake, a shock absorber, a time-varying-length cable, and a cage, we address a theoretical problem of control of a particular class of coupled hyperbolic PDEs sandwiched between a nonlinear ODE on the actuated side and a linear ODE on the opposite side, with a PDE domain that is time-varying. A state-feedback controller entering a single ODE state is designed to exponentially stabilize the overall system through several backstepping transformations. An observer which only uses the boundary values at the actuated side is constructed to recover all the states of the overall system, based on which a “collocated” type output-feedback control system is proposed. The global exponential stability of the closed-loop system, boundedness, and exponential convergence of the controller, are proved via Lyapunov analysis. Large cable net structures have been widely applied in aerospace engineering due to the feature of light-weight, high packaging efficiency, and high thermal stability. Structural vibrations induced by a variety of disturbances are inevitable in the space environment, resulting in the requirement of effective vibration control strategies for large cable net structures. Since the large cable net structures have many closely spaced vibrational modes in the range of low frequencies, traditional modal based control may cause modal truncation and spillover problems. In this paper, a wave-based boundary control strategy is adopted and its effectiveness to control the vibration of cable net structures is investigated, by transfer function analysis and numerical methods. It is found that the structural vibration can be absolutely resisted by applying the wave-based boundary controllers onto all the exterior nodes, when disturbances come from the external boundaries of the cable net. Various DC tests performed recently with full-size 60 kA HTS cable prototypes in the EDIPO test facility demonstrated that proposed design of HTS strand at Swiss Plasma Center (SPC) - stack of HTS tapes twisted and soldered between two copper profiles - is applicable for high-current fusion cables, but improvement of the strand mechanical properties against the cyclic loading is still needed. Based on experimentally obtained correlation between the performances of cable prototypes at different operating conditions, further investigation of cyclic transverse load on the strand performance was performed at 77 K. Aiming to obtain a strand design able to withstand a continuous cyclic load operation of some thousand cycles, influence of the strand geometry and tape's manufacturer has been studied. Cyclic load has been applied up to 1000 cycles for straight and bent samples at the load amplitudes up to 4 MPa. Based on the obtained data, next design of HTS cable prototype will be discussed. Polymeric compounds targeting UL44 horizontal XHHW-2 building wires are commonly based on brominated flame retardants combined with antimony trioxide as synergist [1], Such compounds are not only environmentally unfriendly, but also costly solutions. Different options for developing halogen free based solutions for horizontal XHHW-2 and solar wires were investigated. In order to construct optical access networks economically and efficiently, we have successfully developed the ultra-high density 2000-fiber cable using innovative optical fiber ribbon "Spider Web Ribbon(SWR)" for underground networks. By employing high packing technology of SWR with simple cable design, the 2000- fiber cable has achieved the same diameter as existing 1000-fiber slotted core cable and the highest level of fiber packing density in the world. In addition, the cable has advantage of fiber joint workability such as mass fusion splice and unit identification by optimizing ribbon and bundle unit structure.
